Picked this up a week ago as ive always liked the old vivas, I would have gone for a hb but they don't come as often and go for alot more. It needs a few bits of bodywork doing but on the whole its a really good shell and the underneath looks to be very good. Future plans are to tidy up the bodywork, a set of superlites and a nice drop. Then maybe later on i'll swap the engine, the 1256 isnt too bad, just not that exciting!!

More Vivas are always good on RR!!!! ;D
I bet you'll enjoy the super cheap motoring that the 1256 gives. What does a litre of 95 cost there now?

About £1.36 a litre now, down here in the south anyway. Looking good again Steve, might be able to get a few more for the Vauxhall Inn meet on here too

Plenty of Vivas on here, they probably outnumber any other model range on RR. Saying that, another one is always more than welcome

An SL and a 2 door too! That's a lovely motor, the seats were always much nicer IMO, massive fat leg-burner spec vinyl!
That interior is just crying out for a dash top refurb / recolour and some dark blue (or black?) carpets!
I've had 7 or 8 Vivas, but my favourite was always the four door SL i owned for a year whilst at uni - it always seemed much more refined than the others on the motorway, think they must have used better sound-proofing!
Good luck

djefk, do you have any tips on dash top refurbs? Sounds like you're a man who's got some experience with them

I don't have experience of doing it myself but as long as it's not split it should be a simply vinylkote type job once the thing's been taken out of the car.

A new set of carpets would definitely lift the interior, besides from the rip in one seat its pretty good in there!

Thats a pretty decent looking SL you got there mate. Benefits from the cool sculpted rear seats like my HB too. Great to see another Viva. How about banding your steel wheels and dropping the chrome embellishing rims, just run with the centre hub caps?

Seems as if viva's are popular now on RR. should have just a Viva stand at the gathering!

Nice! I don't suppose it lived in Maidstone at any time in its life? I don't know mate but i'm from maidstone so its there now! The guy I got it from had it for almost 10 years and he's not far from me in Walthamstow (N.E London) Cheers for the links Oli, thats something i'll be looking at a bit later on, I think the superlites need to happen next

That's weird! I used to live in Walthamstow, moved to Maidstone, where I very nearly bought an almost identical '74 HC (hence my reason for asking!) and now have moved back to Forest Gate (fifteen minutes from Walthamstow!).
