A bit late I know, but The Gathering has rejuvenated my RR forum mojo after a quiet couple of months. So I thought I'd stick a loads of snaps from some shows we've been too. Starting with Beach Buggin.
Had a really nice drive down on our own for once, through the new Hindhead Tunnel and in to Southsea the back way, sadly a couple of miles from the show a funny grinding noise that had started and stopped a few miles back reappeared with a burning smell so we pulled over. Everything looked fine but she wouldn't start again and with the basics checked we opted for the easy way out and breakdown recovery. Just before that arrived a VW friend we camped with earlier in the year pulled up on route to the same show and had a quick look, with everything cooler now it was obvious that the fan belt was slack, as we tried to re tension it the cause became apparent.
That was once my fanbelt top pulley, the rest was ok, but the centre had shattered into several pieces and was only held together by heat and luck. A call to a mate in the show sourced a replacement and recovery dropped us in to the show car park.
Within a few minutes Ed (an AA breakdown driver when he isn't off in his Bay camper) had us sorted and running again. Fingers crossed.
Anyway, it was a lot later than we had planned to get into the show and we wanted to leave plenty of time to get home if there was any further issues, so we had a quick wander round for a few hours. The sun was scorching but with the Solent a few yards away a nice breeze and an ice cream kept us cool as we checked out this lot.
