I was expecting an American MGB. I see a UK MGB. I am in love.

The exterior, bumper delete, stance, paint colour, wheels, all work.
But I haven't seen an exterior and interior so at odds with each other in a long time.
Why would anybody put engine-turned aluminium into a car like that?
And then trim a white (or off-white) car in... beige?
Sorry, I think it needs a spartan retrim in black or dark green. With buckets.

The look of the car is great I reckon. The swirled ally could have been a little toned down I admit, but it ticks all the right boxes for me, especially from an exterior perspective.

However, I reckon the car is more stock (engine wise possibly and suspension) than he is making out IMO. I dunno, some of the details in the article of Retro Cars didn't seem right.

It still enters the cool status for a 'B though without question .

V8 or B Series? In town assuming you keep your right foot in check on the V8, there is not much in them apparently. Of course you'll want to hear it, so use your imagination.

On the motorway (assuming you use the right LT77 'box on a sensible diff ratio) the V8 is meant to be a slight improvement on MPG over the B Series.

On my 'B I reckon I had around 22-24MPG around town and low 30s on a sensible run (when I got the overdrive working). Whilst it had the same wheels as the above car it had next to no interior (or sound deadening either), engine had 10k miles on it (an Ivor Searle refurbed 1.8 B Series) with a new dizzy and IMO recently rebuilt carbs (compared to previous SUs they did not leak and were a doddle to setup).

But of course, from the B-series is descended the O-series engine, and from the O-series, the fuel-sipping Perkins Prima diesel... ;D

Or if you're really never in much of a hurry there was a B-series diesel too.

Maybe I am nitpicking (in which case forgive me) but some of the spec of the car did nit tie in with the article IMO.

He says he has lowered race springs all round. In the article they looked like normal springs (without lowering blocks the only real way of lowering an RB MGB from the rear is to flip the main leaf on the springs and decamber them (mounting points are different to the earlier cars, making it alot easier to go lower on a car with chrome bumpers) or to go parabolic.

It also said he had a fancy inlet manifold and full flowing tubular headers. I admit the inlet is a hard point to argue on but the block buggers in many circles are known for being a compromise for space reasons with full flowing items (MGRV8 items) needing the inner wings cut). I will admit since the RC article, the details have changed in this respect.

I normally would not pick faults in this anorak/ grumpy old man manner but (it is a showpiece after all)to ask £15k (it has been for sale a few times recently) for the car with a spec that doesn't tie up and budget tyres all round (not a cheap size for tyres). Sorry for being demanding, but for that money I would want a flawless MGB, especially with the amount of quite frankly great stuff you can get for that money.

Anyway, I apologise for my stubborn ways (and possible typos from writing this post from my mobile), but that's my reasoning anyway .

yep, but did you notice the fuel economy question. its hardly better than the petrol version needs a turbo

I'd say B series, O series, T series was the better route. Get a 2.0 16V or better yet 2.0 turbo in it.

Diesels, pah.

Or, like my mate drop an Elise K Series then an Exige motor in, go racing and embarass big bucks V8's. His MGB Roadster has been in PPC in Dave Walkers column a number of times over the last 3 years.
