video link about a 1955 jaguar D Type we looked after at this years Revival (one of five cars we had there) a lowdrag E Type, a semi lightweight E Type, this D Type, E2A and a genuine Lightweight E Type 86PJ (the ex Atkins, Roy Salvadory driven car) i'm not in the video (well just a shadow at the back) just before the revival i rebuilt the engine, fitted a new clutch, rebuilt all the brakes including resealing the calipers (these cars have 20 brake pads) , fitted uprated torsion bars and a really good check over as well as a few other jobs to get it up to scratch. finished 5th in very slippery conditions. it'll get to 60 mph sub 5 seconds. they are amazingly quick cars for something thats over 50 years old, and very docile when needed. they have a very tall first gear.

You sir have the greatest job on earth That workshop, those cars, and obviously the skills and knowledge to fiddle with them without completely wrecking them. I am in awe ;D

GT40 is coming apart quite nicely. amazingly these original parts off the car were kept by the original owner so they'll be reunited luggage box everything fibreglass has the chassis number tagged to it. shows it's all original more pictures of the car in bits tomorrow

Wow, just wow. I'm mostly green with envy for the cars, the workshop and the skills and bravery to feel confident enough to overhaul metal of that calibre. Good work, keep us posted

There must be good reason for restoring it to factory condition, but I can't help thinking that somehow you're erasing a part of its history and rarity by reversing the modifications done to it that, really, don't make the car look any worse. I can't think the wire wheels will look nicer than the alloys either.
But I don't doubt it will look beautiful when finished or that the work will be to a high standard.

i do have to pinch myself sometimes.
the reason for going back to original is that the MK3 is a rare version of the GT40 . remember only seven were ever made. the conversion was done in the 70's to make it look more like a MK1.
the MK3 was only ever designed to be a road car and that's all it'll ever be. there are enough racing GT40's out there another one isn't needed.
