I agree, it does look better without the bullbars but it does become slight more mundane (insofar as a 70s Subaru can these days). I think I like it looking like it's escaped from the outback, they're a big chunk of this car's history.
Are all those black bits on the bonnet what used to be the windscreen seal?

Ok,bit more progress made on this. decided to whip the front end off today to replace the bent front bumper/valance panel today and while i was at it had the wings off as well to remove spiders etc and underseal inner wings, all solid on removal thankfully. Decided to fit the fender mirrors too while they were off, although as sods law would have it they are not as good a quality as i was expecting so one of them is now broken Have been in touch with the seller and have some replacements in a slightly different style en route so watch this space. Still, all looks a bit straighter now, apologies for curse word pics,it was getting dark when i finished.

I feel like unpacking my drum kit outside the MOT station and performing an Animal style roll for you on arrival... Upmost respect ;D
This comes from somebody who attempted to restore a '79 Leone Coupe.

I stripped it down and found some funky rot that needed fabbing skills I didn't possess and wasn't going to pay for. It wasn't rotten by any means, just not something that really appealed to me that much at the time. I bought it off here about five years ago? Sold it to a guy who worked for Subaru, they were going to restore it for use at shows etc. Last I heard he'd been sacked and Subaru were arguing that the project was his, not theirs etc.
I'd like to know where it is now, I just wasn't dedicated enough for it. Too many other things tempting me away, that's why I admire your perserverance so much ;D
