I sold my Nissan 300zx and on the same day bought the new project_ a '69 Ford Taunus 2dr 20M RS. German import. She has been restored in the past but is now wanting some tlc again......these are the first pics my friend took when she arrived home. When I get out in her next i'll take some more and maybe start a renovation thread! But i'm well chuffed over all! ;D Cheers

I am "that" friend who took the photo, The car is lovely, it really does turn heads and the engine growl sound lush, Once the few jobs get done it will be a cracking car. Is that gauge cluster on the trans tunnel stock? I think I would have bought it just for that ;D Yep standard, only the RS model had this as it's the sporty one, it has the same 2.3 V6 as found in the Capri and Granada as well, god knows what BHP it is though!

Cheers Thank you, I may well take you up on both those offers at some point! This will be a learning experience as it's the oldest car I've had by nearly 20yrs! Got a problem with selecting reverse (crunching) and 1st is hit and miss. Doesn't feel like the gear box So I'm guessing it's the selector box or linkage maybe?

It looks awesome, reckon we could have an Ipswich convoy at this rate I'd love to bring her to the next 8ball meet, I was there in my Focus ST a few months back and it was a good crowd! Only thing is she's got issues with selecting reverse and 1st is a bit iffy. I'll investigate this wkend but I doubt she'll be done. Also I'm working till 7pm this Thursday so...... But whatever happens I'll be there regularly with her whenever I can in the future!

Awesome, I had a RHD 20m TS some years ago, parts were a pain pre-internet and I had to sell it. I still have a pair of standard taillight lenses if you want them!!

I may well do as the engine seems to run very well with not a hint of smoke even on start up so would seem worthwhile looking at cams and a webber maybe! Going to get everything working perfectly first though before i have a play.....

Stunning! I have one of these myself, sitting around rusting away... I will fix it, some day I think all rs's had the 125hp v6, this car deserves a 2.9 though, although old school with a carb on top The extra lights grille looks good too, is it factory? Are the hubs or wheels redrilled? Looks like those are the same chevrolet wheel I had on my taunus We need and more photos! ;D

Are the hubs or wheels redrilled? Looks like those are the same chevrolet wheel I had on my taunus We need and more photos! ;D I haven't looked into identifying the lump but my guess was the 125bhp version.....although it's not exactly performing right now. The standard solex carb needs setting up but obviously the long term plan is to try and find a manifold that'll accept a single or twin weber but so far it seems difficult to source!? If the engine ever let go or was going to cost too much to fix I'd look into a swap but as it is I'm happy to leave the original in as it runs well, sounds healthy and there's not a hint of smoke even starting from cold so........ Should have a wheel off nxt wk but all I can say is the wheels haven't been modified, I'll look at hubs.... The wheels have no markings that I've seen so far........ The front spot lights are apparently standard on the rs and there are one piece with the grill. Changed the engine and g/box oil few days ago and under side look very clean. Just waiting to get it on a ramp and diagnose my gear selection issue......guessing it's the selectors that are slack somehow, although I'm no expert!
