After a lot of thought my Citroen GS Club estate is for sale.
I hardly ever get time to use it and my 59 Karmann Ghia is costing me a fortune to restore.
I have only done about 100 miles between mot's.
It only has 66300 miles on it, it start and runs like a dream and has never let me down.
It is a 1977 R in Gold, its the right year so has all the best bits on it, full Jager Dash, chrome bumpers, etc. Spare wheel, jack and engine crank, the crank works perfect and it will start after half a turn. Its an Air cooled boxer engine, so not much to ever go wrong.
It also has the original Muff (yep it called that), this is a second grill that goes over the normal one, it is designed to restrict airflow to keep the car warmer in winter.
The body has a few marks and faded paint on it, but I have never wanted to touch it up as it all adds to the car. It is totally solid with perfect floors, the only surface rust is on the bottom of the doors, its not rotten so easy to fix.
All the chrome is in great condition.
The wheels are the standard wheels, but they have been painted red and white with new white wall tyre trims.
The interior is in great condition apart from the seat material has perished a bit with age in a few places and the drivers side carpet could do with a clean.
The hydraulic suspension works perfect with no leaks at all. I have adjusted it so it can be driven at its lowest hight, I marked all the original setting so easy to put back to standard or if you wanted it lower its easy to do by removing the bump stops, I didnt want to do this as the car is so original. It would be easy to make the pan lay on the floor.
I don't have much paperwork with the car, I brought it like this. I got it from the chairman of the citroen owner club, so it came from a good background. He brought it for his son, but his son said it wasnt cool enough and wanted a new fiesta, how wrong he was.
He brought it from an old lady called Ruth who had owned it for years, she is the reason the miles are so low. She lived in Australia, but had family in the UK so rather then hire a car every time she visited she brought the citroen to use on her yearly visits. The car came out the garage, got an MOT and tax, she used it for her holiday and then got a refund on the tax and put it away for another year.
I have just fitted a new battery and put 12 months MOT on it.
The car has just been shot for a feature Retro Cars magazine along with my Mercedes SL350 1978 which is also for sale.
To some up, it is one very cool and very rare car.
