Hello all,
Is there any way to see whether a numberplate is on retention?
I've currently got an age-related plate on the Benz, but I'd like the original back. This was changed some 8 years ago from the original to a private plate, and then when I bought it to its current plate.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Was the original plate special? if so it may have been tranfered off before the private plate put on. this would mean it would be subsequently given a age related plate. if original plate was left on it should have refered back to that,(non transferable) There was once a time when you could put a plate on another car, get new ageless one, and the sell that one. no idea how to check if plate on rention. but wack plate in dvla enquiry to see if assigned to car!

Problem with that is that it needs a make (or is there another way of looking?)
Tried it through an insurance website and nothing comes up.
300 SE is on a Corvette lol

Have you done a simple search for the original reg to see if currently on another vehicle ? I check here - www.hpicheck.com/If not and nothing special than contact DVLA for advise on how to get it reinstated. If, however, DVLA deem the number to have a value other than just a vehicle identifier be prepared to pay ! Paul h

Thanks for that! Apparently it's on a 4.2 2007 Jaguar...
That's that idea out of the window then!
