"Stolen in last few days from padlocked lock-up in Redhill: navy blue 1970 Volvo 164 with private plate DTV 50C. The car is currently SORN'd and went with the bootload of spares (new rear-wheel arches etc) gathered to get it back on the road again soon. It has previous classic car show attendance stickers on the windscreen. Its chassis number is 36778, the twin-carb engine is 15720, it has tan-leather interior with chocolate door trims, low mileage (about 50k) and a purpose-made stainless exhaust system as it is a column-change auto."
Drop me a PM if anyone hears anything

Found with the help of the Banger racing fraternity after they passed on details of the yard it was being kept in. Happily it was found before being stripped for racing and will is repairable.

Fuggin Nora, stolen out of a locked garage, for racing? I might as well just give up. Whoever nicked it really needs to be repeatedly shot in the face until they agree to source their banger fodder by more conventional means.

Putting aside the fact that it was stolen for banger racing, it's blinkin' great to see that the banger community were the reason it was returned. Well done!

Scary isn't it, I feel sorry for the majority who want to enjoy the sport legitimately and do their best to try to keep it that way as it will always be spoiled by the few who aren't so fussy.

It just seems to be a huge deal for them to oust the bad eggs for some reason...

Glad it's been found, good to see there are some decent banger racers out there. Won't say any more on that subject

i cant see why there is attitude towards the banger boys, they buy the cars and can do what they wish to them, most are beyond realistic restoration anyway so getting rid of the curse word surely makes the better ones more valuable.

The point of this thread is that the majority of us have no issue with what the banger racers do with cars legitimately purchased and want to clean up the sport, but none of us want our cars stolen to fuel the sport, however curse word the car being stolen is.

Most of us banger boys do try and be decent - what must be remembered is that if some lowlife does nick a car for racing it is not a given that every other banger driver in the country does not automatically know who he is or what he has nicked. Good to see a happy end to this story.
