Just a hello to everyone who isn't sick of my Marinas from NZ
I've been a bit bored lately, and got thinking, why not get another car? Talked to a few people and found out there was a Marina local that I HADNT bought/raided for parts yet.
To cut a long story short, I bought it. It got towed to my house and instantly it looked worse than I remembered.
These are the earliest photos I have of it:
Yes, if you're my friend you wash my cars. Thanks Oliver
Bit of height difference...
This is the only photo I have that begins to show just how dirty and curse word it was
So I had a project on my hands.
Got it into the garage which it will spend most of its days in
And generally had a look round at what I had gotten myself into
I was warned he had used the interior as a 'rubbish bin'
But some of it came up alright after a bit of a clean
Carpets stuffed unfortunately
But I wasn't phased, after all I had asked for a 'project'
So I got stuck into it.
Took the rear trim off to find what I had expected, rust
Wire brushed the worst of it off
And coated in rust protectant
Same on the other side
Oddly enough the back left door is rusted out quite badly, but no other doors seem to have even a spot of rust?
Also gave the arches a quick cut back, paint might turn out alright?
Moved round to the front end to try and improve things and cheer myself up
Not very nice looking to say the least
Sanded, masked, and coated with rust fix
This stuff is amazing
And top coated, also gave the bumper a polish
Gave the headlight bowls a coat of underseal
Then tried my engine for size
No, not seriously.
Engine bay was rather disgusting
So it got a bit of a clean up
Then tried my TC grille on, and took the bumper off to get at the curse word behind it. Had started cutting back paint on one side here
Also cutting back the bonnet, quite a big difference I'm rather stoked!
Got the engine in just yesterday
We have gears!
And today, it moved under its own power (just) for the first time in my ownership
So this is how it sits currently
Also played around with my indicators, what do people think? I like them...
And thats where I'm up to at the moment.
Plans are to lower ita bit a lot, fit sway bars, continue generally tidying it up, get some minilites or similar for it (4x108, plenty of options ), and just drive it
Opinions welcome as always
Cheers,
Chris
