As much as it pains me to do this, the time has come for me to part ways with this car. The original thread for it is here:retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=readersrides&thread=96981&page=1#1354783
So, the basics:
Model: Peugeot 205 Diesel 5dr
Year: 1992
Mileage: 160k-ish
Tax: SORN
MOT: Runs out sometime this month.
Pics: See original thread.
Location: Southampton
Price: Offers, say £100?
Contact details: Will, 07963 three two one 687
I do not have the time or money to fix (or even insure) this car anymore. It is currently not driveable as one of the rear brake cylinders has failed, causing a loss of brake fluid. The brakes do not work at all. A replacement cylinder is included with the car.
There are many other things wrong with the car, and it will not pass it's M.O.T. when it is due. Faults include:
-Noisy driveshafts, at least one split gaiter.
-One tyre probably illegal, the rest are fine. One wheel 'looks like a 50p piece' according to the tyre man, although the spare is fine.
-Reverse light doesn't work (sensor and bulb have been checked).
-Slight oil leak.
-Engine mount deteriorated as a result of the oil leak.
-The handbrake doesn't work, the mounting points for the handbrake lever itself are toast.
-Wobble when braking, suspected warped front disc(s). Good secondhand discs, pads and calipers are included in the sale. One of the front calipers on the car at the moment cannot be bled.
-Rear suspension has seen better days, ideally needs the rear beam replaced.
-Air leak in the fuel system, currently very, very bodged but is an easy fix, it just needs a new fuel filter mounting. 10 minutes to fit.
-Occasional slight leak from the injection pump, it leaked for a while when running on diesel then stopped when put back onto biodiesel. I have been running on diesel for a few months and it hasn't been leaking.
-The exhaust knocks against something, I think it's just a matter of adjustment. It is also blowing in several places.
-The battery is not secured.
-Headlights not mounted properly, will need to be set up correctly for the M.O.T.
-Since the most recent pictures were taken I've managed to scrape the rear passenger side sill on some concrete in a supermarket car park. I can get a picture of this when I'm back in Southampton, but it's not too bad.
Good points:
-Lowered on cut springs with tabs at the front, adjustment of torsion bars at the back done by grunty.
-Engine is sweet, I've changed the oil and filter every 5,000 miles since we got the car.
-Recent secondhand battery.
-Water temperature gauge fitted in the dashboard.
-Good stereo with aux in, fli speakers in the front doors and a sub in the boot.
-Loads of receipts for work done on the car over the past 5-6 years.
-There are some spares with the car, including a brake master cylinder and indicator and wiper stalks. There are other bits and pieces as well, I'll have to look and see what else is there.
And that's about all I can think of at the moment. The car is in Southampton, I am in Reading at the moment but I'll be back in Southampton by the 9th. Please feel free to give me a ring with any questions, any sensible offers for the car will be considered.
Please note that the car cannot be driven or towed, it will need a recovery vehicle or trailer.
