A mate and I went to the Grant Construction Rally at Knockhill this morning. Despite the fog, drizzle and freezing conditions it was well attended by punters, rally-ists and (importantly) hard working retros.
The event was the opening round of the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship, the Scottish Border Rally Championship and the Border Ecosse Club Championship.
It's an unusual event for the Scottish calendar because it's exclusively run on and in the grounds of the circuit.
They run two stages very tightly back to back to take advantage of the main tarmac circuit track and the surrounding gravel tracks.
There's a short break between stages and then everyone is back out.
Much quicker than a conventional rally because there's not really any transfer time between stages.
The photos aren't brilliant, sorry.
I was learning to use a new lens which is very light sensitive and it was foggy. (blah, blah excuses blah...)
I've left the modern cars out (apart from one at the end).
Brilliant looking slant four in a Chevette HSR. Great engine to look at
This Chevette was running a Vauxhall red top and had a brilliant, full length, exhaust tunnel 'frenched' in
Sadly, not the best support wagon of the day but definitely the most retro
This van in the car park caused a heated love it/hate it debate
And finally, a stacked and burning modern car.
The bloke was understandably upset but unhurt.
