I've just removed a complete MX5 running gear from a car I was breaking. All in superb condition...I was using the car daily for two weeks up until I started stripping it (only stripped due to really bad rot) and it ran/drove beautifully.
It's a 1.6 with the long nose crank (none of the crank issues on these engines) and is the full power version, not the detuned engine that came out when the 1.8 was released. Basically it's the best engine to go for. It's covered 113,000kms (70,000 miles) and runs really sweet. I have a video of it doing a proper cold start, idle and rev which I'll add here in a little bit.
What you get is a complete conversion pacakge of the following:
1.6 MX5 engine
5 speed manual box
All ancillaries (starter, alt etc...)
Manifolds (intake and exhuast inc. downpipe)
Engine mounts
Air flow meter
All induction pipework
Wiring loom*
ECU
Both fuse/relay boxes
All other relays
Coil packs
Fuel pump
Speedo cable and throttle cable
Speedo clocks
Indicator/wiper stalks
Heater controls
Blower fan
Basically this is a complete conversion package to enable someone to run it in another car. The reason for all the extras is that you get the whole wiring loom (100% of it) from the front lights right the way to the back lights and everything in between. This allows you to fit the whole loom to the car rather than splicing it into an existing loom. Having the extras allows things like the speedo and guages to work properly etc...
Every single wire and connector has been labelled properly so identifying everything is a doddle. It also comes with remote boot mounted battery cable. This really is everything you could need, which has been painstakingly and carefully removed to make conversion to another car as easy as possible. Most engine/gearbox conversions lead to lots of further spending getting it all into another car...not this set-up though. It's literally all there.
For extra cost I can even supply the matching LSD, prop, driveshafts...even up to subframes, complete hubs, brakes, wishbones...everything!
I am looking for £400 for the complete engine & box conversion package. You won't find a more comprehensive RWD set-up for anywhere near that money. All the items are located at Area 52 in Bristol which has easy access to the motorways and good links to the South West, Wales, Midlands and M4 corridor.
Here is the complete running gear just after is was removed from the car. I currently still have everything shown except for the front shock absorbers and power steering rack.
Engine & gearbox seperated from the rest of the running gear and stored
A few pics I took with my phone (apologies for the quality!)
Wiring loom all labelled. Complete with fusebox, ignition module etc...(the main battery/starter/transmission loom with the big fuesbox is still attached to the engine & box and still all wired up)
Engine & box with battery/trans loom:
AFM & intake pipework
Speedo clocks, indicator stalks and heater unit.
What I didn't get shots of are the ECU, fuel pump & sender and the blower motor but they are all included as part of the package.
As said, £400 for the whole engine/gearbox/wiring package.
I am more than happy to answer any questions so please feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Bruce.
