bit.ly/yI5FZaI'm new to the Japanese scene. Can anyone give me guidance on where parts ly on the expensive scale and if or components are interchangeable with Datsun's less glamouress but just as desirable saloon/sedan range from the same period. I'm sure this wouldn't cost two bob back home and aud2000 (1400quid) seems a lot but there's probably a lot more metal in its makeup than anything bought back home.

Being a 2+2, I'd avoid, very few parts are interchangeable with other Z's. i.e. the doors are a bit longer and just about impossible to get hold of. Rust? Well...they rust EVERYWHERE! You'll have a particularly hard time tracking down door seals, and would almost certainly have to make your own from scratch. If you want a Z? Avoid that one, buy a coupe, the market is FAR FAR friendlier to them, both in terms of parts availability and cheapness. PArts availability is generally good, but getting alot scarcer (even in my relatively brief time of Z car ownership). The L series are generally bulletproof, although with an autobox, you may find yourself problems. People you want to talk to are on VicZcar - here - www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=10413.0 If it was me? And I REALLY wanted a 2+2? I wouldn't give the 260z a second glance, I'd get myself a first gen RX-7, parts more available, much prettier and in proportion car.

Other things to consider...most engine troubles like stuttering/conking out/variation at tickover are often down to curse word in the fuel tank/fuel filter/perished vacuum hoses/corroded connectors in the engine bay. Relatively easy to diagnose if you're patient.
Interior of that one looks sunburnt, take the carpet off the dash, it's probably cracked. Fixable, but annoying.

I certainly wouldn't ship one all the way around the world. There are a fair few over here. Aussie cars can be rusty too.

Ohhh you're in the UK and looking to ship it from Oz?! Because that would be cuckoo. Have a look on the Z club.net
