My son and his girlfriend have moved to Boras,Sweden. They fancy buying a 1979 244dl 31.800 miles 12.500 SEK about £1200 approx Any tips please to what to look out for on 244s Are they any Good or bad Thanks in advance.

Engines good for pretty much any long term abuse, not too prone to rust although they will rust a little, 245s are worse for that. That's all I know about them really

Very small oil feed hole at the back of the cylinder head so give it plenty of oil changes and don't be tempted to use STP or similar as they have a bad habit of blocking the hole.
Exhaust made of about 5 sections and is heavy. Weak mountings cause sections to fail early and it can be difficult to seperate them. A stainless exhaust should be high on your shopping list.
Rust usually attacks rear arches and behind rear arches. Do not worry about rust on the sills because the metal is thick enough to take it there.
