Excellent stuff, the Kitten has so much going for it.
Lightweight, rear wheel drive, reasonable power; what's not to like?
Are you going to fit a reverse gear?

I just realised you can see i lost my shoe under the gearbox as i was fitting it... haha, i managed to get my self stuck in the engine bay! And i cant wait till its finished! I will be leaving the body looking extremely tatty and sleeperish but will be taking the body off so i can treat the frame and paint it properly so it lasts, will be flipping the rear axle and fitting coilovers on the front so i can lower it alot But i probably wont be fitting a reverse gear, unless i can fabricate one when i build the 2 peice prop, but its such a light car a foot out the drivers door is all it needs really haha

I like the idea of sorting out the mechanicals and leaving the rest looking 'lived in'. I will probably take a similar route when I get round to doing something with mine.

yes will be putting the axle above the leaf springs, and i will be fitting minifin drum brakes untill i can sort out a way of doing the disc conversion. I'm hoping it will be a wolf in sheeps clothing once its done have tons of 10" mini steels so will post probably run them for a while so it will look extremely stock haha They are awesome little cars, so quirky and different!

Does anyone have any pictures of the rear axle once the cars been lowered? Looking at the axle the hand brake cable will be in the way, the only other idea i have is moving the leaf spring mounts.

Or removing a leaf or 2 and instead of a damper run a coil over set up, so the leaf is pretty much used only for locating the axle, anyone experimented with this?

Not mine, just some pics I saved for ideas. I can't vouch for its effectiveness. You don't want the radius arms too short or it can induce rear steering I have also heard that the reliant axle can be weak if it is not supported by the leaf springs. All in all, I think I have raised more questions than answers I think, sorry.

Lateral location looks a bit of an afterthought....

That's cool thanks, but was more after something simpler and will be keeping the leaf springs. Has no one got any pics of lowered kitten?!

Moving the springs mounts won't work as you can't lose that much height from the rear shackles . I put the axle on top if the springs and make a bracket to hold the handbrake quadrant . That lowers the rear by 2.5 " . The prop will need a split bearing in as a one piece prop will rip the nose of the diff off

Oh okay ill have to just put the axle ontop and see what happens with the handbrake quadrant,2.5" is how low i was hoping to go so that will be great! Will source some uprated shortened dampers too, will be fitting coilovers on the front to lower about 2.5" too.
And i am planning a 2 piece prop, i have read somewhere about transit bearing carriers being used but its something i will have to research further into!
