Hi all,
Where to start....
I'm pretty sure I want to sell now, I fancy another Jaguar or big BMW so...
This is my forth Audi cabriolet, ive had a couple of 2.6 cabs and a couple of 1.8cabs. This can be insured on a classic policy, ive had a very good quote.
This is by far the best and drives the best too. Its NOT your £1300 well used example, if thats what your after this aint for you lol.
Purchase history...
I purchased it in Febuary 2011 from a bloke that dealt in classic Audi and VW stuff, he had about 6 or 8 MK2 Golf GTI's at his unit which was his main stuff. He had purchased this Audi about 5 years before to sell on BUT his wife had seen it and that was that lol. For the last 2 years its done very little miles.
Its a 1997 R plate 2.6 V6 Audi cabriolet. Its a very rare factory colour thats "Cricket pitch green pearl" i've never seen another cabriolet or coupe in this colour!, looks different in differnt lights. 98k miles. 5 speed manual gearbox.
When I purchased it because it had done little miles for the last 2 years and I had a big trip to Cornwall planned I went over the whole car and replaced anything I thought needed doing..
Starting with the front I replaced all 4 front brake flexi hoses (1 looked a little cracked lol).
Changed the track-rod ends both sides because the adjusters were seized up (common problem), the steering arms both sides were removed from car and completly stripped down and greased up.
All 4 discs and pads were changed for previous MOT so were still very good.
Engine had a full service, also drained gearbox and filled with correct grade gear oil, GL4 not GL5!.
Changed thermostat for a genuine one (these are also a common problem), which is a long winded job on V6!. To remove thermostat easier I removed radiator so I flushed engine out to remove old antifreeze and backflushed radiator before refitting, also used genuine RED Audi antifreeze.
New battery fitted. New powersteering pump fitted. The valley pan gasket was weeping (the pan gasket inbetween the two heads, again common) so an uprated one was ordered from Audi and fitted and now is bone dry. Engine, gearbox and cooling system don't leak at all, completly dry.
Roof was in outstanding condition BUT I still cleaned it with Renovo hood cleaner, then re-dyed it black and then sealed it with ultra-proofer. Looks perfect and rain beads off it lovely!. A new expensive (£300!) rear window was fitted 2 years ago and is still perfect!. Clear side repeaters fitted now aswell.
Factory fitted "DELTA" head unit with 6 disc changer, factory fitted sun woofer and electric aerial (still works!)
The car is 100% reliable, use's no oil or water and drives a dream!.
Spec,
Its the 2.6 V6 engine, super smooth. It gives good MPG, i'm getting 25 round town driving only and we went to Cornwall in summer in it and got well over 30 with roof down not hanging around lol.
Full black leather (no half leather curse word here!), black dash and doorcards with dark wood inserts.
Electric roof which works a dream. takes about 25 seconds. don't let people tell you the manual roof is better because it AINT!, its a pain and cannot be done from drivers seat lol.
Remote locking factory Audi alarm, all 4 windows electric. Factory electric aeriel. Fitted with Audi factory Delta 6 CD changer stereo and also has factory fitted sunwoofer. All factory keys with car and dealer fob.
Alloys are ULTRA rare factory fitted 17" bolero items with matching Yokohama tyres 215-45-17, a set finished last week on ebay in bad condition for £320!.
Loads of service history and old MOT's. Its taxed and has MOT. I'm after £1700. HPI clear with report.
It really is a beautiful car. Is locked up in my heated garage all week (due to company vehicle) which has 5 strip lights so can be viewed at night.
