all those on the 'cars for sale' section who whinge at a car they want being 100 miles away. I've always found that odd. If you want it, go and get it. or get it delivered

I've never thought of doing this and even when posting this up wasnt considering it. It would be amazing to get something drive it back and use it with that added sentimental value.
I was thinking that about this car thought and it wouldn't really be worth it i don't think because, with the added being an import romping the insurance up every year and posible nasties, it would probably be better to spend a grand or what ever the decent uk one would go for. The only reason i thought it would be a fun idea is because of how rare it seems that 3 door red 1.3 model is. I'd love one with some history etc.
maybe i should put some wanted ads up soon lol

isnt there a guy on here who flew to greece and drove a car back I'm sure there was you need to get on plane and buy car drive home job done RA40 Tony IIRC There is a guy on here that drove from the Netherlands to Grimsby and then home in an SD1 Rover V8. I am so tempted to do the same over some cars Possibly John GTVsaviour? I've a friend in Poland who would be the right kind of chap for checking a car out in advance - you need to do that if you aren't mechanically competent - but I have no idea where he is in relation to the car and it could be hundreds of miles away...!

Hmm... I hate to sound like a bore but it's seems a lot of hassle to buy what is really quite a underwhelming car, I picked this one up last year for £500 whilst at a local car show, ok it's got 5 doors but it was mint, low mileage and right hand drive. They are about so save your money and just bide your time until one more local appears. 1984 Ford Escort 1.3 L Mk3 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr

It drove very well but not nice enough to warrant driving to Poland for one!, the clutch was quite sharp on mine hence why the wife disliked it but it nipped alone pretty well if a bit rolly on the corners.
At the end of the day it's 30 year old car now so it won't be like a modern one but I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed with one once you find it.

That 5dr one is mint, but like 2dr and 4dr mk1/2 escorts the gulf in money between the two is huge, that would have been at least £1200 as a 3dr. Going to Poland would be fun I'm sure but your left with an lhd 1.3 escort which didn't drive well new,not looking that clean and being in a country that suffers far worse weather than ours ever has,it's not looking good really.
I can't honestly believe you've spent 3 years SERIOUSLY looking for one of these? There was an x reg mk3 xr3 on passionford a few months back in MINT condition for a grand, car never been welded.
There's plenty of these out there for reasonable prices plus a 3dr 1.3 was never a rare car, probably the most common variant.
I believe a 3dr prarie yellow xr3 is very rare, and of course a black series one Rs turbo!!!

3 door estate is my favourite shape. Always fancied transplanting XR3i engine etc into one.

I drove a 1600 3 door estate back in the day when they were new. It was a hoot.
