Model: Subaru SVX - Alcyone (JDM) Year: 1994 Mileage: 84k miles (approx as speedo is in km) Tax: Sept 2012 MOT: July 2012 -- no advisories on last MOT Location: About 10 miles south of Lincoln Price: £900 Contact details: post here or pm. Pics say a thousand words ..... If you don't know these cars, thats not s surprise, as they never really took off in the UK. 3.3l 6cyl boxer engine. They were only available in automatic, Subaru didn't make a manual box at the time that would take the torque. This one has leather interior non working aircon, working electric windows, no abs (thats good, less to go wrong). It is a bit rough around the edges, hence price. Laquer peel in places, never bothered me, but the areas its peeling are mainly rear and I thought these parts could be painted black to make a nice contrast - a lot of SVX's were two-tone from the factory. The drivers door lock has been damaged and it comes with different keys for locks and ignition, central locking does work though. A previous owner butchered the electrics around the radio (none included) but it would be easy to wire a radio back in. There is an occasional click from the osf, which I think may be a cv joint, but it's only happened occasionally and I never investigated it. On the pluses, its not done may miles since last MOT and don't think it would need anything for the next. It has good (expensive) Kumho tyres, its not extortionate to run, I averaged 30mpg when using it for work. It's very comfy, easy to drive and quite quick ... Being a Japanese import there is no rust. It has a power button on the autobox which changes the gear shift positions quite dramatically. These engines are bulletproof and will accept turbo's and/or superchargers for silly power. More recent 5 and 6spd manual gearboxes can be fitted as well. These engines have also been put in various other cars (including VW vans) but I think the cars too good for a breaker, but what the next owner does with the car is up to them. Might trade for big estate/tow car (something along the lines of Merc E300) cash either way.

Wow, an SVX without an SVX number plate - that's a rarity! This actually looks like quite a good deal for someone at that price, especially compared with the clown on eBay who wants £6,500 for his. Should have plenty of life left in it at that mileage too - mine's done 193K (miles not km - it's a UK car) on the original engine and 'box and still going strong.

it amazes me that subaru make a car that has so much presence like the impreza and then makes these aswell lol What are you talking about man! These are bonkers. Check out that snarling snout! This is classic Guigiaro design! These put me in mind of a 2-door Citroen XM on steroids if such a thing existed. What a price too. I'd love to buy this. But I can't. Somebody needs do a build thread on this to paint this involving nice paint and wheels, which is all it really needs! Good luck with the sale dude!

it amazes me that subaru make a car that has so much presence like the impreza and then makes these aswell eh? each to their own, but to my eyes this has much more presence than any impreza, without the wrx/sti/turbo bodykit i think the Impreza is one of the blandest styled cars going, even with the lairy kit it's still just a roundy roundy three box saloon, part of the reason i sold my WRX was it just looked to bland for me.. This SVX looks amazing to me, just love them, the only reason i don't own one (or haven't bought this one) is the mandatory autobox, such a great price as well, cant see it hanging around long..

Cheers for the comments guys. I think it's very cheap for what it is as I'm after a quick sale to make space. The other SVX's I was looking at when I got this were over double this price and generally in a similar sort of condition. Wuvvum: These engines do just go on, I think there are some in the states with 300k+ miles on them ... Then there are others with 400+ bhp and 6spd manual boxes on them. 10mpg: It's cheap, use the additional money you'd spend on one to convert it to manual The 4spd autobox isn't too bad imo, and I do use it as sort of a manual at times, but in power mode it shifts down quickly then shifts up around 5500rpm. Much better than the "eco" mode found on UK cars

10mpg: It's cheap, use the additional money you'd spend on one to convert it to manual Yup, it's very very cheap, when i was considering one, there were none under £1500 and many were much more than that.. Oddly enough after seeing this i researched manual gearbox options seems relatively simple and wouldnt even cost that much, gotta go have a think now.. One question, what are the back seats like, i assume they have 3 point belts?

I've never had anybody in the back, so just had a quick shot myself, and I fit! I'm 5'11" and my head just touches the roof and my knees are against the seat back. That was with the drivers seat set for me, so if you're 6'5" I'd say someone behind you might be tight. Anyway 2x 3pt belts and 1 lap belt in the middle. I took an obligatory engine shot, and some curse word ones of the back seat. If you want some others lmk and I'll try later.

All pm's replied to.
I used the car for work this weekend and gave it a blast up and down the A1 to London. It's a great engine and effortless cruising, it was also quite civilised in London traffic.

It's still here, still for sale, no-one's been to look at it yet. I was using it again the other week and there is a bit of noise on the nsf, which I'm thinking is a bearing that needs replacing.
