With Private Number Plates realtively cheap and available, its interesting what names you can make from the Letters & Numbers. Such a common sight on the roads nowadays... So get those pictures on of what you see daily... I'm sure there a few members with an Eye to Detail in reading those Number plates :-))) Heres a few from Today SILVER ... BIG BOX Maybe?? NEED A 'LOO' ? SOOOOOOOON !!!

The private plates are a joke in the UK. They're so far off actual words or correct spacing that most of the time that I don't even notice them.

I don't see the letters like some people. You see SILVER on the 5 series, I can't ever see a '1' as a capital 'L' becuase it's in a line of capitals. My brain just won't allow me to see it as anything but a '1' or capital 'I'. Your 'silver' looks like "Suer" to me I read it how it's spelt and the first thing in my mind was sewer despite the owner of the plate probably hoping I'd read it as 'Sue' something or other.
B18 BXX looks like BIB if anything and I can't see how it could be read as a 'G' when it looks nothing like it. The same for people using a 9 thinking it looks like a lower case g (G) like this: B19 for BIG....just doesn't work!
Some plates are very creative, but I'm afraid none of those strike me as anything but someone trying too hard to make it something it isn't. 5000 N is the best one out of those.
Please don't think I am anti-private plates, I have one on my Delica and also bought my GF one for her car, but I tried to choose things that actually say what you read and also that had some kind of meaning to them too (if that makes sense?)

There used to be a Rover P6 near my parents with the plate NOB91N which was spaced as NOB 9 IN which made me chuckle as well.
Lotus in the village used to run the plate 130LOX which made the local paper when he got a tug for spacing the 1 and 3 together.
Some Honda locally to me, I suspect the lady owner is Anna because she has ANA... as the plate but the first number is a 1 so it reads ANAL to me.
bear with me, I do have some photos of some I spotted.

There's some epic private plates to be had out there, like B33TLE and V8 POP but I'm with Mystery Machine on this one, the majority of plates are nonsensical to the casual observer.

I bought me S 14WSY quite a few years ago for £200 inc transfers, which if you know me as Lawsy is quite easy to see, but otherwise isnt.. I sold it on for a profit a coupel of years later as at the time i had nothing to put it on.. I also had this on my yamaha R1 which worked quite well... again a £200 plate that fetched a lot more when i sold it

seen one a few years ago that made me chuckle. took a bit of insight to figure it out (but don't think it was a private plate. think they were just unlucky)

Mate has B 5 LAN. His name is Barry Slann and it's spaced (no problem with Police or MOT) thus - B 5LAN. A bit naughty but the edges of the 5 are very sightly rounded to be more like a S. He's owned it since first issued and cost him £350 or £360.

I love personal plates, mainly for the fun they can generate.
BUT
I generally get miffed at people, like a colleague who buy plates and only they know what they say, some stuff like a 12 being an R and various permutations of numbers that really say very little.
I love and collect plates, so to me the more pure side where stuff reads as it is printed appeals more.
That said...... Your ride, Your thing.

My Old MA61 a few years ago 'BLACK' maybe? Seriously?? This is getting tenuous at best! Seriously, I cannot see how B81 AKH looks remotely like Black? I am now thinking of selling my reg plate H215 XAB to a taxi driver because it looks just like HIS CAB if you really, really squint and go wild with your imagination.

Here are some, granted not UK plates. Which with Alpha -Numeric the UK could do, but then they know a whole existing market would collapse as people would not want these plates where you have to see bits meaning other things. BMW R1100R in the Eastern Cape province of SA This one read 444 HI-TEC

The best I've seen so far was a Clio V6 around Taunton with the plate 'V6 YAY' Always made me smile, and no illegal spacing, or tedious miss-reading needed.
In a better world I'd be allowed to pick the reg' when I register my Mini, then I could have Q182 OVT, which would look like nothing special unless you knew the car.
