2 exhausts brackets failed a couple of weeks ago, leaving me with a bouncy exhaust. Took it to a local garage who charged the princely sum of £10 to weld on a new bracket and replace 2 perished rubbers.
However the car has now sprung a power steering leak, so need to get this repaired asap.
So lined up for Sunday is more faffing with the window, strip down the fan control unit as this is jammed then if I have time she will get a clean.
After that its onto the exterior at last.

New wheels have arrived, not entirely sure if they are right for the car yet but at £41 with 4 good tires I had to take a chance. Will get them fitted in the morning.

They don't look too bad at all, just needs slight hitting with a stick now. Also picked up these bad boys from the boot sale this morning 80s awesomeness for £2 bargain. Wired them up and they sound superb, much better than the goodmans units I had in there.

Started on the heater unit controls, however they proved to be a right PITA to remove, so have left it for today as I don't think the neighbours appreciate my colourful language. Got this far. Also very random but I spotted this at work, very cool in my opinion.

Great car, they have a very cool look about them, probably my favourite all time Renault. I can't say I like the wheels but at that price...

Yeah wheels need to have more of a 90s vibe, but couldn't turn them down at that price until something else comes along.

Took her in for an MOT last week, hoping that the power steering leak would be repairable, its not. The car needs a new steering rack and these are made of unobtainium, can't pass the MOT without one though . No other faults raised during the MOT, which makes it even harder to swallow. Do I cross my fingers and hope one turns up or cut my losses and move on?

Thanks for the link, I've rung this guy and it's not for the 16v model. Apparently phase 1 & 2 16v racks are the same but lower spec models are different.
Could go manual I suppose, but its an event each time you drive it with the power steering working, hate to think what it would be like without it lol.

I've had mixed success with stopleak. The Lucas stuff is the best, it lasted about 18 months when I used it before it started leaking again but another dose cured it again.

Long time no update. Well last time I posted, the car was in MOT limbo as it needed a power steering rack, but they are like goldust. I eventually thought I'd secured one via a guy on the retro renault forum. Paypalled him £55 waited for 3 weeks, nothing, rung him, lots of Bullplop excuses given. 2 weeks later still no steering rack. Knob end!! Anyway during all of this I found another rack for £45, which did arrive. Dropped it off to the garage and a few days later the car was back on the drive with a new MOT. During the wait for the car paypal eventually refunded my £55. Anyway, renewed the insurance last week with Adrian Flux £120 all in! Got some TAX today. However as the cars not been driven for nearly 3 months it's currently sporting a very flat battery and flat tire. So plan is to charge battery, get some air in the tire, then crack on with the bodywork. A front bumper is top of the list.

Always quite liked the look of the Renault 19 valvers. As others have said, it only seems yesterday they were everywhere, even in the same blue as yours. Now they mostly seem to have gone. Anyway, sterling work so far; the only thing I would have done differently are the wheels - less is more IMO and the originals looked just right. * Edit. Just looked on evilbay and scarily there are only 2 renault 19 16v only there, one being a convertible. Yours looks much nicer in the pre-facelift shape too. Hold onto it!
