Fixing a rusty/leaky fuel tank

Hi Guys

My car (99 Honda Accord Coupe) has a leaky fuel tank. The seams have rusted pretty badly and started to leak.
I can't seem to find anywhere that sells new tanks so I'm left with reconditioning. I've read various things about the Por15 Tank Sealer but I'm wondering how I can fix the rusty seams; going anywhere near them with a grinder is not an option lol
The coupe seems to have a different tank to the saloon unfortunately so finding a good used one is pretty much out of the picture.

So, can anyone recommend anywhere in Hampshire that can recondition fuel tanks? or indeed anywhere that I may not have tried that sells new re-manufactured ones?
I've phoned a radiator reconditioning shop who say they de-fume the tank and weld it up but they don't touch the inside or give any guarantee how long it'll last.

Any help much appreciated guys.

Seriously, POR-15 is brilliant.

Why not weld the tank though?

strip all the plastic bits off then stuff it with paper and set it on fire.

Once it has been burned, you will be able to safely weld it. All petrol vapour will have been exhausted.

Just fill it with water and empty it out, that way you don't end up with a tank full of ash and a potential eyebrow loss.

Hi, the official way is they can only be welded if they have been steamed for a ridiculous amount of time. However I have heard of some one doing it with a pipe from the exhaust of a running car pushed into the filler neck, the fumes suppress ignition. Probably best with a diesel engined car in case petrol one not running properly. Plus you can check the weld is good by temporally putting hand over sender hole and soaping the weld for bubbles.

If it all goes wrong, you didn't hear it from me.

Hillbilly fuel tank welding fck Yeah! ;D I think it would be much safer if you'd pressurise the tank with a bottle of nitrogen or CO² - not exhaust fumes... ;D

I've welded many a fuel tank after filling with water then a good wash out with truck wash. A lot easier than messing around with exhausts or filling it with paper
