Found this today, fookin loving it! but shal I chop it into a more lowrider/bobber kind of thing or keep as-is? Been after a cool bike since the Nats this year and this one just turned up today out of the blue. Needs a few repairs to gear linkage, front brake cable and steering pinch bolt but otherwise its all there and in pretty good nick even has a complete and 100% working set of lights which are RAD!(I know its not a car but it semes ok to post about bikes yes? For the record we don't have any problem with retro rides with 2 wheels do we?)

id do a bent piece of tubing fron where the handle bars meet the frame down to the original point at the base of the seat post, + ape hangers = damn sexy coolness going on.
I'm on the look out for a bike at the moment for similar treatment

Well heres what I was thinking of, Chop at 1 and shorten, Bend and maybe lengthen at 2 then increse bend on the forks at 3. That would lower the bike yes? then maybe bob the guards, shorten that cranks and maybe re-jig the little rack on the back. I don't want it to look like one of those lowered bikes you can buy from argos with curvy tubes and all that jazz, I want it to look the same but lower.

i had dynamo lights like that on my first mtb!!!!! for the record I'm thinking big kick up, either springer forks or cheap suspension forks that use twin yokes same as a motorbike, drop bars similar to clip ons....rake the seat tube and kick the bottom bracket out around 12-16" forwardlarge top tube curving down and splitting to form the top brace for the rear wheel....hmm..though there's not much left of tghe original at all then....

Cor! You're going to be a busy boy if you're going to make that thingy on wheels you were talking about elsewhere and do this chop!
Good luck.

It's really, really quick and dirty (and I don't know bike terminology) but: Front headstock bit angled back and extended below the stock. The bit the seat is on is angled back. The rear bit is extended back and mated to the top of the seat post thingy again. *n

Ape hangers, sissy bars, extended forks, raked head stock, curvy tubes, banna saddles, etc. are a bit lame in my oppinion. The text book lowrider or chopper bike dosent do alot for me I'm afrade. Its a bit like the differance between a plastic fantastic hot rod and a slammed metro with banded steels i guess Subtle is where its at, i guess i will have to build it as i cant find pics of equivilents well nothing without an engine anyway.

This is the best illestration of what I'm after that i can come up with This = cool this = not The first bike dosent have any of the text book custom bike stuff all over it. The 2nd bike has load of custom mods but its obvious which is better. Now i want the first ones style only made with a my little bicycle and not a big BSA single or whatever it is

Here's what mine is looking like at the moment. Just needs a lick of paint. The tank is actually for the upcoming bobber but so far I've only got as far as getting the tank. One thing I'll say about the top picture Slater is that the wheels on a shopper are a bit small to suit that style.

Slater Go for it... you know you have to its not a chop but I knocked up an electric bike the winter before last from a knackered old BMX frame and a jerry can, I don't ride it much, it looks a bit daft with an 18 stone 40 year old perched on it but the fun was in the making ;D Nigel
