So... regretably I'm thinking about selling my 924 on. This was one of the cars on my "list" which I aquired in July last year and have been running daily. I'm just about to take it off the road for 6 months whilst I use my summer car so thought I'd take the chance to offer it up for sale before I SORN it and cancel my insurance.
Some history then from what I've been told... the car was bought new and owned for the majority of its life by a Dr. I have the original bill of sale including options list and some service stamps from Porsche. I purchased the car from a garage owner who had bought the car from the Dr after servicing it for a few years, that is where the Porsche stamps stop. It appears that before I bought the car it had sat unused for 5 years (no MOT history) and then had only done 100 miles in the year before my purchase. I did not know this and pushed the car into daily duties after buying it almost unseen from ebay, with minimal issues. Whilst it has let me down once or twice, I have no fear of jumping in it and setting off as my only problems so far have been down to loose fittings! Currently it's running great, just takes 5-10 minutes to warm up in a morning and it's off
In my ownership I have changed both front seats, the driver's was badly damaged and although the new ones are not perfect, they are a vast improvement! I gave the car a full service in January and changed everything bar the gearbox oil, shortly after I changed the cambelt as it was of unknown age and the waterpump which was leaking.
Interior wise the car is in good condition, the dash has minimal cracks, nowhere near as bad as I have seen. The rear seats don't have belts and as such look almost unused. The car has electric windows and electric mirrors, I think thats it for gadget options though. I have the sunroof bag and roller blind in the rear.
Externally, there is no rust. There are random knocks and scratches which are of its age. The only problem area is the passenger door. This is dented and has a large scratch. I was going to swap it but I don't walk round that side enough. The PO has fitted 2nd hand wings and front valance to the car last year. These were originally red but the new paint is in good condition, I have had to touch up where the red chips through. I know it needs a new rear silencer, this one has a hole in the bottom.
Anyway... if this doesn't sell then I'll keep it for next winter as it wont cost me anything... and I like it! ;D
