Hey people! I'll try to keep it short, and upload more pictures, hope its interesting. The car: been mine for some 10 years(my first ever), respray it 5 years ago, obviously very bad as you'll see on the pictures as it current state. Its 1.3 12V carburetter , I modify it to mpi from the same honda engine, run pretty sweet for a 1300cc. The plan is to sort all the rust areas, put the carb back and run it again this time on lpg. I didn't ride it for the last 3-4 years, but want to make it daily. Also I made myself a set of 8x14 steelies. Please be patience with my English, and with the progress still being a low budget, or I must say no budget project ;D hope you can see the pictures. and at current

Hello from "Ken Lee" country again. ;D Did some metal and welding , still not sure how to drop the front properly , realize that the mcpherson swap i wanted to do isn't going to work, and torsion in the front can't be chop chop as i did with the rear springs ;D The carb to mpi swap is all from civic crx 1gen 1.5 12v ('83-'87) ew4 was the code i think. Since there is no way to find replacement headlight , thinking to made myself morette style headlights using a e30 base. Not sure yet shall i do it and if I'll like them, otherwise what to do with the broken headlight. panda ae86 for a color scheme ? I like !

You can get the headlights over here fairly cheap. I'm not sure if one for a right hand drive car will be suitable for you though, not sure of theres a difference?

I am really liking this - I haven't ever seen one lowered on nice rims, but always thought it would look good.
I had a 216 as a hire car in the early 90s and it was all going well until my then girlfriend's (now wife) dad's (now father-in-law) German Shepherd (now dead) jumped up the door and scratched all the paint off!!

Hello! I'm really enjoying this project, great work! I've had two cars just like this. I was very curious in its modification of the engine ... I did not know that this engine could be passed from carburetors to injection ... The black steelies you have photographs mounted on the rover are how many inches? 8? What did you do to lower the car? Coilovers? You cut the springs? Tell me what you did in this field (suspension)
I apologize to everyone for my bad English but I am using google translator ...

Don't worry about your english, it's probably better than mine most of the time. Really love the shape of these and your plans sound excellent. Always find it odd when you see stuff like this abroad, when most of the ones in the UK has disolved Keep us updated! ;D

Nice! I had one as a first car 15 years ago. Even then they suffered from rust. Mine was lowered, big exhaust, side skirts, spoiler etc as it was the 90s. Front was lowered by winding down the suspension bolt on the arm (gives a lot of camber and poor tyre wear) and rear with shorter springs. Exhaust made a lot of difference as standard system is 3 box, goes to rear of car, then circles back under the spare wheel back to the other side. Performance one was two box and about 1.5m shorter. I painted the rear light surrounds and the bump strips to match the body work and plan was to do the bumpers as well.

nice one, I love it ! progress: my license being suspended for a month, no rush anymore ;D I'd love to see pictures of your rover, still I think I saw it already on some other forums. Nice car, nice story! Yes, the steelies are 8J wide, I cut the rear springs and re-index the torsion bars in the front it's all ghetto style ;D ( info for t-bars>> www.redpepperracing.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48692&hl=Torsion+bar in the US there is also available different torsion bars giving you different stiffness, all the panels that match 100% etc. all expensive stuff for me ;D The car being technically exactly civic 3g, there is plenty of info in the web. Have a set of 7x15 ATS et38 left from my last car that i've sold, they need massive spacers to get the stance right. Will go instead the steelies for now, having almost new tyres , and i'll look for winter 14's for the steelies some poor job: I'll push hard to find me a headlight couse I don't like how the home made came out also have a honda zc dohc head, with the crankshaft and everything, just keeping my original engine block , will push some more power, but naah, that will be in way farther future , inspiration:

I knew that the 80s generation of Rovers enjoyed rusting, but not quite that bad! Great to see someone getting stuck into fixing it . There cannot be too many 213s et. al left?

I had one of these way back, it was rusty in just the same places, a real pity as the engine felt it would last forever. Good luck getting it back together.

Thanks for the comments guys! The car is on the road for the last 2-3 weeks, using it as daily. It pass the local mot no problemos ofc! For the first time I actually had to take the car to mot to pass it (gotta love east Europe ;D ) Its been lowered reasonable for our crappy roads, not slammed as I wanted, but already is running on bump stops in the front, so the ride is horrible, oversteer, rear fishtailing if push in corners. Engine is doing outstanding mpg, very pleased with that. Still to do: - new short front shock absorbers - fix the down pipe and final silencer - drop the rear just a bit more - headlight - some proper ice - pointless stuff such as stickerbomb, paint rims and other stupid things I like:) new front seat from some 90s rover

Very good job my friend. Show us more photos, especially the interior, liked to see your new seats on place. What engine is it the original, but converted for injection, like your initial idea? Or another one?

Looking really good now, the rims really suit it. The twin headlight conversion is excellent, can't wait to see it finished. Interested to see how the DOHC head fits to the 1.3.
Are you still planning to do the AE86 panda style paint job?
