As subject. What fwd toyota box will bolt on to a 4A-GE (20-valve)
and what cars are they found in.

The most obvious ones that spring to mind are the Corolla AE92 GTi-16 or the MR2 AW11 boxes.

every box which fits to a 4a or 7a engine fits the 20 valve  So that's Corolla, Carina, Avensis. As long as it's a 1.6 or 1.8 and non VVTI, the box will fit. AE92 GTi/AW11 and the japanese gearboxes destined for the 20V have better fitted ratios though. I think some of the latter ones even came with factory fitted LSD There are different clutches, but you chose them on the basis of your flywheel, afaik the box doesn't matter |

probably not, BUT, and this is pure speculation...
There is a slight possibillity that the box is the same, but with a different bellhousing.
If you can look at your VIN plate in the car and write down what it says behind the Trans/Axle line. If it's C52 (or something like that), it might only be a bellhouse swap away.
/edit: did some googling, and a Yaris should have a C54 gearbox, it COULD work, but you need 2 boxes and try and swap the bellhousings to be really sure.
i now that the starlet gearboxes can be made to work with a 4a engine like this.

Any Toyota C series box will fit with a 4a-ge bell on it. Anything from a C52 from 1984 to a C64 from 2012. The bolt pattern on the actual gear casing hasn't changed in the last 30years. In addition pretty much any Toyota transaxle diff will fit be it mk1, mk2 or mk3 MR2, similarly from corrola and celica boxes, the great news here is that mk3 MR2s came with a torsen LSD.
More good news to come, many different Toyota models share drive shaft, CV, hub and diff spline patterns, it is therefore possible to make up your own shafts to mate a C series box on your 20v 4a-ge to the hubs on the yaris.
For example my MK1 MR2 rally car has a C64 6 speed gearbox with a standard c52 bell, mk1 mr2 clutch, shift cables and shift mechanism, lotus exige inner CVs and drive shafts and outer CVs from the front of a celica st185.
It's likely that you'll need to experiment to get it right but luckily these boxes and shafts are very cheap or even free.
