Price negotiable, read the bottom of this description
Chassis prefix : CR21 Engine model: 2CT Import model so great spec (central locking, electric windows, AC, electric moon roof, giant mirrors for seeing round corners, etc) Mot and tax until end of december 2012 Mileage in KM so 120'000 miles ish 2.0l turbo diesel (LEZ exempt - I live in london and use it daily) Rare RWD model (uses a beefed up AE86 diff) 4x114.3 PCD (Same as an AE86) Dished old school alloys 8 seater - Seats fold flat into a bed so ideal for camping, they also fold up against the sides so can be used as a van, they also swivel, slide fold and do all sorts of amazing japanese stuff. I bought this van recently and have actually taking a HUGE liking for them, so much that I've bought another! (even more pimp) The Townie wants for nothing, it starts on the button, is a pleasure to drive and everything works as it should (apart from the AC). I've done a few long journeys and also sat for hours in london traffic and the temperature gauge is spot on, no leaks, no funny noises, really mechanically exceptional. The paint has dulled with age, its has a few little marks here and there and a few small car park dents which is to be expected. I will be polishing the paint up and refurbing the wheels (and maybe adjust the right height if I have time) for the full asking, but seeing as this is not done yet I will accept offers as is (once this is done, this option is gone).Recently I have fitted a fancy Pioneer DAB radio / CD player in it, given the inside a clean up, changed a squeaky alt belt and changed the bulbs so the fog lights in the front grill now work (pimptastic!) Also since the pictures were taken I have painstakingly removed the bubbled old rear tint! Just to point out my Nardi is not included and a toyota original will be put back on for the new owner. *UPDATE* Has the fancy aftermarket carpets in the back The rear has its own heating/cooling fans/AC/12V power (not tested the AC in the rear). There is an additional sunroof in the front, both sunroofs have blinds.

Also being a JDM man most european stuff scares me, and italians... well that terrifies me! However I did look it up as a swap is always tempting and wikipedia reinforced my fears with "The 164 was equipped with the most complex wiring loom of any Alfa Romeo"

What is it like on petrol? As above, terrible on petrol but great on diesel! ;D I get on average 45 - 50mpg (mixed driving, terrible london traffic and some motorway cruising) so pretty damn good I'd say!

don't forget that these Townaces (I have the Royal Lounge version) will run on veg oil with NO modifications.
Mines a little more beaten up thatn this cracking example and used as a daily drive...very very relaible and give good fuel economy too !

Jesus I want this so much. Is it genuinely that good on fuel? Would it be up for my 30 mile daily commute for the summer? What are the bad bits? Rust wise? Much history? Pm me if you like

Free Bump Cheers dude, just loaded it up to move all the parts (panels, bodykit, rims etc) for the RX7... its pretty fascinating the amount of room these have inside. Being that I won't have anything else too retro on the road (apart from the pao) I'll prop spend the weekend lowering it, sorting the rims and general tidy up and taking it to the retro gathering at the Ace Cafe on the 11th of August if anyone wants to come along and see it. Also with a camper interior these seem to be fetching £4-£5K on ebay!!! ...might be worth fitting one for the surf bummers

Pm me if you like Yes, I'm using it daily and can genuinely say it is that good on fuel and I live in Central London. Absolutely zero rust (apart from the odd bit of surface where the paint has a few scratches around the bumpers which I'm sure doesn't count as rust on here!) All MOTs since 2007 when the previous family bought it, it was sold on as the lady who owned it could no longer drive medically and was a very reluctant sale to the point they asked if they could keep the original invoice for then they bought it from a dealer (I of course let them but have a copy of it). This would laugh in the face of 30 miles a day. The 2 wheel drive versions like this seem to be far more reliable than the 4wd versions and obviously much cheaper to maintain. This had the cam belt done a little while ago so good to go on that, but as with all cars I always recommend that the new owner does an oil and filter change for their own personal peace of mind (its generally what I do myself).

Commute 20 Miles a day in mine (2wd version) no problems just to back up the above, and really really comfortable.....hint, drive at just under 2000rpm in top gear over drive this equates to a smidge under 50mph and the turbo light does not come on = slightly better fuel economy! ideal for the commute on bisy dual carridgeways. I sit at sixty all day long in mine and recentky went to the download festival camping two adults three kids, tent and shed load of gear and did not put a foot wrong!!! that was a 140 mile round trip! fully and i mean fully loaded with camping gear !
These have quite a following and are as retro as they come with economy and relaibility. Mine is battle scarred and would only get rid of mine for another as really into them.
Oh and think there the same engine and gearbox as the diesel camry so spares etc are a doddle mechanical wise.
yet a nother tiny bump...would buy this in a pinch if i was looking for one !

Just home from another hassle free jaunt. I reset the clock as it had 1/4 a tank in it. Just got home and it shows 238Miles (feathering above empty and too late to buy any now) thats on approx £20 of diesel. Driving the first half of the journey I had a super heavy gearbox for my rx7 turbo, a set of wheels with tyres, a boot, door cards, couple of tool boxes with powertools... driving back all the tools, a set of cheap heavy 18s with tyres and a set of 17s (3 tyres). I've noticed it uses no more/less fuel whether it is empty or loaded. Unbelievable how it start first click of the key everytime, it doesnt even crank! Had a few people PM, call and text now. I will be using it daily up until the point of sale and next week I may be driving up to scotland borders in it to visit a friend (and drop of some parts to another car of mine) !

Lots of interest but still no takers? Some things I've noticed recently and had one buyer back out over so want to note them here. 1. The front cigarette lighter doesn't work. Not sure why, haven't bothered checking as there is one behind the drivers seat for the rear which I can use for the sat nav. 2. The heater doesn't seem to to blow hot. No idea work and again not investigated. I suspect trapped air in the matrix as it is the highest point on the cooling system. The engine comes up to temperature relatively quick and sticks bang in the middle of the gauge. On a run the temp will drop very slightly as you would expect but even in heavy traffic the gauge does not move above halfway. I thought it may be the lever but I checked that today and it is opening and closing a little flap on a pipe under the van. Again, as I am using the van daily for work and this does not affect me in the slightest I haven't investigated any further. The fan operates at all speeds. So away I've done over 300 miles this past week and it really runs like clockwork. As the sun is out I decided to jack it up and remove the wheels to give them a scrub/sand/lick of paint. Whilst its up I took some pictures to give an idea of how solid it and clean it is underneath. Under the front Under the rear (spare wheel) Front chassis rail, pockets, steering Other side Belt missing from the AC pump Front rad, steering rack etc Engine + bay If you want to bring your own wheels I will knock off £100. I really need this gone so I can pick up the new van so come have a look, bring some cash and I'm very sure you will be driving this away with a big smile on your face! I can only have one parking permit at a time so need this shifted before I can collect the newer, manual bad boy!

Front is now lowered and headlights are now de-yellowed (pix to follow). I will be ordering service parts for this later in the week and I'll finish refurbing the wheels at which point the price will be firm Track attack inspiration? noriyaro.com/?p=8436
