I have been offered a v8 cheap for my sigma(always wanted a v8!) so going to sell my original stuff.
Selling the Engine and gearbox
It is the 4g52 Astron 1 engine. It is a 2.0 8v chain driven nigh on bullet proof engine!
This engine is from my 1978 Mitsubishi colt sigma. It has covered 61,000 miles all genuine and can be verified. I have however given it quite an in depth spruce up! The engine and therefore all new parts have only covered 600 miles.
- Fully stripped down and hot tank washed
- Crankshaft and rods lightened and weight matched
- Flywheel and front pulley lightened
- Full rotating assembly balanced
- ARP Rod, Main and head bolts
- Custom grind Camshaft by Newman cams to "rally spec" slight lope on idle great power with a noticeable push from low down so its not all cam and no balls!
- Custom inlet manifold with Yamaha YZF750 carburettors that have been perfectly jetted and extensively setup for the engine, K&N pod filters, great starting and driving even from cold!
- Welded distributor fixed to 34 degrees of advance with no pinking on Tesco’s 99 fuel at anywhere in the rev range. Accuspark electronic ignition kit.
- Accuspark 8mm silicone plug leads
- New Distributor cap, arm, plugs, water pump, thermostat, all gaskets.
- Extensively ported and polished cylinder head to give great flow and 9.5:1 compression. All clearances calculated during building
- Balance shafts deleted with kit from Australia
- Beehive performance valve springs from the US
- Valeo 3 piece clutch kit
- Titanium wrapped Custom made 4-1 equal length manifold with 1.75" primaries to a 2.25" collector with lambda boss(I used this for wideband tuning)
- Everything that could be bead blasted and cleaned was, then painted or bead blasted aluminium was lacquered
I'm sure there is stuff I have left out but basically everything that could be replaced has been replaced and the engine is great! Makes fantastic power compared to stock! Believed to be around 150bhp up from 90 standard. There are lots of receipts unfortunately not for everything as there was a lot of mates rates and cash deals involved but all the important stuff is there and will come with the sale.
The gearbox is the "J" 5 speed box which is renowned for being "the strong one" which will easily handle this power and lots more. Again only covered the same 61k as the car. Cable clutch so easy to put it anything
Basically this would make an awesome engine for an early mitsi, kit car or other project? its a nice compact unit that doesn’t weigh too much at all. You wouldn’t build one this cheap again! The manifold, carbs and cam cost me as much as the asking price!
this engine has cost me around £3000 to build and I realise I'm not going to get anywhere near this back! So I am looking for £650 ono which you have to admit is cheap for the whole package!
You can get me on 07540765075. Text would be best between 8am and 6:30pm as I am working. After or weekends phone calls are fine. It will need to be collected from March - Cambridgeshire PE15
The engine is still in the car. I am going to be doing a video of it running tonight to upload here so you can see what it is like (from cold) It will be removed before collection
Setting the cam Up
Just going in
Makes a cool arty shot too!
Like I say I will get a video of it starting and running from cold tonight!
