£600 £500 Manchester One of the latest registered Mk1s in the country 2.7 litre Honda V6 827 SLi manual (relatively rare in the grand scheme of things) MOT: July 2013 Tax: Dec 2012 130k miles Properly lowered on Konis all round, no cut spring nonsense. 17" Vitesse Sports Stainless steel exhaust (a very nice noise indeed) Choice of CD player PM me for phone number - cheers First up, pictures: This is now the time to shift on my much-loved 827. Key facts: I've had this for 2 and a half years, and it's been sensational in the time I've had it (including a near-faultless loan period it spent in London). Work done in my ownership: New full-sized trip computer New clutch New o/s outer CV joint (the only London-based fault it had) 4 oil changes 3 sets of plugs New pads all round New downpipe plus plenty of other things which don't spring to mind right now. Cambelt was last done just before my ownership in 2009. It has got things needing attention for the purists: After a bump last year, the front bumper, bonnet, both headlights and slam panel were replaced. Nothing was the right colour, so the bonnet is now matt black and the bumper is the over-sized late bumper rattle canned BRG. However, all is lined up and well fitted - MOT man was happy, put it that way. Headlining looks...a state. I never cared, I don't look up. Dent on rear wing: This has been primed and spray painted green, but it's still there. Needs a little smoothing and repainting Front window motor only works with pressure applied - a bit bizarre, but true. At the moment the front door card is off, but for the full asking price, I would sort this out properly for you with a working motor. Very low clutch - the recent clutch itself is perfectly fine, but I've never been able to completely sort the bleeding. Fine around town, but after a motorway journey, getting in to reverse can be a pain unless you are very gentle. Car begins to take up drive after only a few mm of travel on the pedal. For the full £600, I'll leave you the tax, sort the window, and send you away with a selection of spares, including: New grilles - a choice of silver or black. Track rod arms Bottom ball joints ARB bushes Brand new clutch slave cylinder (an expensive and rare part bought when I thought that was my problem - it turns out mine is actually fine) Spare control box Spare HT leads I'm sure there's more too, but will have to check. Only thing to note (and I'm more than happy to have a chat with anyone interested) is that the wheel situation might change - the Rover and my new car, a Galant, share a PCD and offset, so I'm going to see how the wheels look on the new car. If they don't look good, you may well get a set of four 16" Rover Sports thrown in for an extra £20 too, but I can't commit as yet. I'm a friendly guy, looking to shift on a car I like a lot - I'm sure there'll be some questions, so please just ask away.

T'was I who borrowed this car (and did the paint job :-)), and I can confirm it's much more fun that you'd ever expect from a Rover 800! Still remember the day I picked it up - floored it out of a service station and grinned all the way home! Mates loved it too - comments included "muscle car" and "it's like no Rover I've ever seen"...
As Mercedade says above, I had very little trouble with it over the year. Started first time every time all through winter.
I'm still tempted to have it myself, despite really needing an estate now, so if you want it you'll have to hurry :-)

I too had one of these, and it would regularly embarrass plenty of much more expensive metal. A true sleeper. GLWTS

Cheers tub' - it is very, very quick whilst being very, VERY unassuming.
2.7 litre V6 is ALWAYS fun...

And vanmartinrooy - if you need an estate this time around, give it a couple of months and I might have one to send your way...

Cheers Mike -I think there's a few guys on here who'd be massively surprised by what this thing is capable of. It's not grandad's car any more, put it that way.

Aye - it's taken a while, mind. Had a duff air intake temp sensor (I suspect) which pushed my emissions up to about 4.5% for a while.
Because I don't have access to an emissions tester except at MOT time, I ended up just replacing everything which was emissions-related - ECU, mixture setting control pot, vacuum control box, temp sensors (air and water), MAP sensor, plugs, in the hope something would work. It did.
I'll never know which particular part worked, but the air-temp sensor was a bit shady looking, so that's what my money was on.

Lowered, rimmed 80s barge you say?
Why yes...

Worried about rust? Don't - none, bar a tiny patch showing at the base of n/s rear arch.
Worried about headgasket? Nope - 2.7 litre Honda V6 (the one used in the Legend, the 800's development-sister). And this is ACTUALLY a Honda engine - you can tell because it has 'Honda' stamped across it, rather than the significantly more fragile KV6 used in the 825s and Sterling Coupes (which have 'Rover' stamped on them).
Worried about MPG? On a sensible run, as Bol says, low 30s are easy.
Worried about looks? Come on...

I'm sure I've seen this around Didsbury/Parrswood. Looks very fly in the metal, nice and different.

Have I been too harsh on the old girl?
This is a car I would happily jump in and drive 1000 miles in, without question. I used it for my 350 mile weekly commute. As my only car, it never let me down.

Will also include a crudely painted custom spoiler - based on the one from the 200 coupe, it fits well. I painted it up, but never fitted it, preferring the cleaner lines without it.

hmmm, was at a stag do at the weekend and the subject got on to cars as per usual. Turns out a friend of mine had one of these years ago and loved it haha.
Any feelings on swapping it for a dull but extremely sell-able '99 Focus? Currently in swaps section
