the plan was a quick strip down, re build and flog it to make room in the yard for a more.. fun build. this is the ol' gal after sitting in my mates garden for a few years.. stripped down- took the chassis to my mates as theres no electric to weld at the yard, and tipped it up to asses the chassis.. peeled off the bottom sheet and quickly realized the main spine inside the chassis has rotted from the inside out :@

tell me about it, 350 for a new galvo chassis, so much for a quick build! Is that all a Galv chassis is? surly rebuilding on a new fresh chassis has got to be quicker that patching up a grotty one, and it should be worth more/ easier to sell once its done too.

Just as well you did a thorough chassis examination before proceeding any further. I rescued a 1986 D-reg Dolly that had sat on a driveway for a couple of years, thinking that it would be a quick, easy restoration. Weeks of welding later, I finally got an MOT on it, drove it for a while then one day demonstrating it to my brother in a car park, the steering suddenly went all stiff: the chassis had folded due to to hidden rust under the bulkhead! I had to straighten it all out and weld in strengthening beams, then sold it on shortly afterwards. Kind of put me off 2CVs ever since.

I've never seen the underbelly of a 2cv before. It kinda looks a bit like a wierd animal with legs!

My chasis did the exact same thing when i stood on it.
Are you going to fork out the 350 for a galv'd one or make one?

Bear in mind that forking out £30 buys you a rubbish chassis that will flex and bend, and fatigue apart. If you're buying one you want original Citroen or SLC. Or make one.
