Factory rare black escort XR3 for sale, 1600 carb cvh engine, lazer red trim. Registerd on 1st may 1981, yes, a mk3 that's over 31 years old!!!
I bought this little cracker back in march more or less a rolling shell, no interior, spoilers, wheels, engine bay bits, engine and few bits were still on it. This car was bought by the previous owner in 1993 to take all the xr bells and whistles and on put them on a 1300 gl as the insurence for the xr was £1080 3 rd party only!!! So his idea was to turn the XR into a track day car but only got as far as spending a small fortune on a full set of Jamex race suspension and springs, grooved discs and series 1 turbo calipers which are all still on the car but if I carry on driving it il need an epidural! Talk about hard, but great round corners! Anyway, the car has stood in a dry warn garage till march, that's when I liberated the beauty. I've used very good second hand ford bits or nos ford items when available to replace the bits that were missing.
I've had the head reconed and a new water pump and belt fitted
A brand new exhaust......wait for it....PECO BIG BORE!! Is fitted in true Essex style......it came with the car and thought plums to it, it sounds mint and will scare the saxo in-breds!
The bumpers have all been taken back and painted, so has the front and rear spats.
The rear spoiler is as brand new, the metal inside the framework is perfect with no kinks at all.
The paint is original, but will need a waft over to make mint
Shell.......it's brilliant, all the floor pans and panels are all in great condition and are all original, I've done about 7" long strip on the drivers door, but it was only minimal. All inner and outer wings are mint and originals.
Interior is red laser with no rips or tears, it's in great condition
Cloverleaf alloys are all straight with good tyres, even the original jack and connector to the spare are there.
It's got mot till July 2013 and tax till jan2013 .
No history with the car, that was lost while the car was in storage, but the log book is in my name and it's had only 11 previous keepers, mileage is just over 76k. The only non xr item is the steering wheel, it's got a RS 4 spoke wheel and that's in good condition.
I'm trying to load up pics but having trouble using an iPad to load pics to this site, but pics will follow very soon but if you can't wait, ther on the series one turbo site, under the same/similar heading.
Price is £1650 and car is located in Nottingham.
Now I am open to px's, but I'd prefer a cash sale as I'm running out of space now, 9 cars is great, but it's getting too much so the px must be something I want and must be unusual. If I say no to your px, don't take it personal, it's just not for me.
