Small update but still closer to getting it on the road! I put the first coat of paint in the top arms and gear selector. I also got all the old rubber off the rear subframe so I can get the new poly ones on and get it fitted back on the car.

Right well today is the first day of 2 weeks off work! So here hoping I can get lots of bits done on this and at least get here rolling. Hopefully with an engine in. A few weeks ago I made this which is the rough finished product. At the moment the thing holding me back is waiting for my wiring loom to turn up from mini spares. Anyway I have been doing bits. Mainly cleaning and painting. Found out my other mini special shelf. As you can see it is not to pleasing on the eye. It was bad when I got it but 3 years in my garage has done it no favours. Some back to black and a microfiber cloth later. I then offered it up to the car and found a problem. These came in cars with padded lower dash rails. As I am not having one it sticks out a bit too far and does not quite look right. As much as I don't want to do this I think I can trim enough off to just about get it to fit right. I will then have to make some new holes in the shelf and the car to get it to fit right. Made a start on building up the door bits although as the outside is being repainted again I can't fit the handles and locks just yet. Found the pedals so in they went. Then the engine. Cleaned the engine I bought up and it came up really nice to be honest. But a bright red engine is an car that is a different shade of red intact sometimes more orange I didn't think would look right plus I wanted a more retro look. So this happened. I went round with a fine brush and went over the red bits you can see. Its drying now so 2moz first thing I will do is puts a second coat on if it needs one. Also the copper fuel line I have fitted is not big enough going by what my mates have said. Just incase I am gonna replace it for a slightly bigger one. Pain as this now means I can't do the rear subframe until i do that. But today my bits I need to rebuild the top arms turned up so I will so those at some point this week and I can then build up the front suspension. Also I have some how lost the brake master cylinder. I wire brushed it ready for paint. When I go the paint I tried to find it with no luck! So at the mo that holding me back as well! While the paint on the engine dry and as it raining I am gonna tidy the garage in order to try and find them! Anyway finger crossed she will be a good step closer to being on the road by the end of the month.

Right well another engine pics to starts us off! Found the brake master cylinder thankfully. I thought I might have to buy a new one. That then got a good clean up and a lick of paint along with the one for the clutch. Test fit! They look the part. I just need to get a plate for the engine steady from DSN and I'll get them fitted. I got all the brake buts to refurb the rear ones. and in my mini spares order that came a few days ago were the screws for holding the speedo bracket on so I fitted that as well! I also got a few fuel line fitted today as the other was too small but I forgot to take any pics and I also started wiring brushing down the wiper motor ready for a lick of paint before it get fitted. Other bit I did was patch up some bits of paint on the bush mounts for the rear subframe. Thats now drying so I can get the bushes fitted. Then it went a bit wrong. I was at Brooklands Mini Day yesterday. Went shopping for bits. I needed 8 new studs that could be used with spacerd drums. He put the i the bag and I never looked at them until this morning. Nothing serious but just something else that is gonna hold me back a bit while I wait for another to arrive. In-between shower I am gonna try and pop these on today. I also picked up a blacking plate for the bulk head as mine went in with the car when it was getting painted but I never got it back, So rubber bits for the rocker cover, some fuel pipe and some bits to join up the fuel line.

I bought my self a switch panel from a van which sits flush as I am not fitting the padded dash rails. Then i got my lovely bit from Jon Betts. Steering drop bracket and I got a full set of extended seat mounts. Bit more wiring brushing, cleaning and painting Wiper motor and rack has come up really well Spent about an hour on the switch panel. Given it a quick spray with some white primer and its come up well. I think it will get a top coat of silver. Top arms with all new bearings in and fitting some new plastic things that the hi lows sit in so these are now ready to go on as well. I have stuck the top coat of silver on the switch panel this afternoon thats come up well. I'll get a pic when it drys but I think it will look the part. Thats it for the time being. Ta.

That switch panel looks great, do you know if anyone is re-manufacturing them? I'm having trouble finding one, they seem pretty rare.

James Nope don't think anyone remakes them but there is one guy over on the mini forum who is asking around £10 posted for one as I put a wanted ad up for one and got 2 replies. I am sure I can give you his details if you want one and are not a user on there. Cheers.

Right well seeing as over the past 4 years since I have taken this car to bits I have nicked parts off it to keep my clubby on the road I found I was missing some switches and the few I did have have gone all grey and didn't look very nice anyway so I bought some new ones. Defo look the parts for sure! Another thing I had fitted to the car when I had her on the road was an Arrrooggga type horn. I always had it wired though the normal horn and just swapped horns over for the MOT but it did make me look like a nob hooting at someone if they cut me up lol. So I wanted to fit a separate button for that. As I won't be needed the heater cable hole on my switch panel I thought I would make use of that hole. This little button fits the job and should look good i just need to drill out the hole a bit so it will fit. I need to buy a new button as while paying around trying to get it to fit I buggered it and the springs went flying everywhere haha. I have a few choke cables kicking around the garage so I'll dig one out later and fit that up. I have a few more bits on order as well. Things are starting to come together although all be it not as fast as I would like as I have had a few issues with my daily at the mo. Anyway thats about it for now. Ta.

Its finished 'Other then needing to replace the horn switch when it turns up' but at least it now fits in the hole. I am pretty chuffed with it. I need to find some nuts that go on the back on those black alan key bolts and I can do a test fit!

Heres an update of what has happened over the past week or so. Switch panel is in. Extended seat mounts are in. Did a test fit with the heater but don't like how much it sticks out so need to look how to solve this. May end up with a kit car heater. After waiting over a year I finally got a new loom. Today the rear subframe went in with some help from a mate. Loom also went in. I have spent this evening sorting out the suspension so I can sort out what I have and what I need to get ordered. Fingers crossed the weather will be kind 2moz and I can get the front built up. Thats about it for now. Cheers.

Right well its been chucking it down all day here which is not good but never fear. Few choccie eggs just to get my self going and then we braved the rain to get the front subframe off. We then bought it in side and built up the whole lot in the conservatory haha. First thing I had noticed is I had missed these when I was doing all the wiring brushing and painting so I did that first thing. Here is the assembled subframe. Got all that done but didn't really take many pic as I went along. All boring stuff anyway. Then off came those brakes and on went the new 4 pot cooper s brakes. Tahh Dahh!!!! Now I had been worried as I know some wheels don't fit over those 4 pots. So here came the moment of truth would the ATS classics fit. Thankfully they do! So do the momos I am now waiting for a break in the rain so I can go back out and fit it all up to the car! Thats about it for now. Happy Easter! Cheers.

Well I took the clubby for a run out to a local show, I picked these up. I think the flat lenses look cool. I just need to get amber lenes but I am using tail light ones as I am gonna have them as side lights and indicators. I also picked myself up a rocker cover and a load of spare bits from a guy giving up on a project. Things like ball joints and wheel cylinder. I love having spares haha. Was a nice day!
