Right, I'm trying to clean up an engine for a rebuild and in having a right old job removing the old HG's. I've been doing it 45 mins now and I've got half of one bore done! I've pulled off the old gaskets and it's just the back face left and it's rock hard! I've tried soaking it in engine cleaner and nothing I've got a proper gasket scraper/blade holder jobbie and it seems to be coming off as dust. Anyone got any suggestions? Ideas?

is it an iron block? Use a brass wire wheel in a drill if it is.

no worries. Just be careful not to catch the bores and damage the honing. But otherwise they are great for getting all the guff and rust off an iron block without damaging it.

Well it's going to get a hone and maybe a rebore once I've got it clean.
I want to give it a really good clean and inspect it very closely!
It's looks like it's had a rebuild not too long ago, good bores, fresh paint on the block, newish cam and pistons and no rust anywhere! But I bought it in bits (cheap) but I don't know why it's been stripped?!? But it is missing a piston and a con rod... Crank looks fine tho?!?
