Any of you bright chaps have any idea what size thread it is and what other cars have the same nut to do the job, because it would seem cortina ones are rare as hens teeth

I've got a 105e anglia box here, certainly would have thought it would be the same - can post it if the nut's on the box if you pm me an address?

You wont get one of those from anywhere. Its a UNF thread, but it ultra fine pitch 28tpi I think it is as Ford like to use oddball threads on their early cars. I think an Anglia one should fit, but I know the Mk2 Cortina doesn't as the thread pitch was changed again apparently. This was covered on a thread on Buy sell Cortina forum recently.

Well my pop 103e steering nut doesn't fit, so I would guess the 05e one is more likely to be the same as my pop one than the cortina one.
Are they the same as mk1 escort, rs2000, mexico?
I need this for the hotrod drags........

just recut it to the next common undersize, which will likely be metric if the original is UNF as kenb says.
youll get a die and nut for 10-15 quid and itll take about 10 mins, easier than farting round trying to find something thats unobtainum.

no, with care you can just file it down to its minor diameter before rethreading. the old thread itself acts as a guide, and any tiny inaccuracies will be removed as the die cuts the new thread.

I need this for the hotrod drags........ The 105e nut does fit the mk1 Cortina its the same part number. Its 9/16th UNF 28TPI. As I said the later Mk2 Cortina's are different again. I also know the Escort ones don't fit either. |
