I managed to persude him to let me put these up, so I thought I'd share a few pics of a mate's li'l Imp with you guys cos we reckoned it might interest a few people here. It's a little bit different from the day it rolled out of the wildlands of Glasgow on the back of a flatbed railcar... ...though at first glance you'd think it was "just" a well-sorted Imp; Bit lively, perhaps ;D and maybe that makes you look a bit more closely and you start to notice some little details that give away it's been track prepped In fact, the initerior .... well, there isn't really an interior as such... is what could only be described as Spartan! Albeit extremely well finished but hang on a minute, what's that lurking under the starter panel? hmmm, why would an Imp be needing a boost gauge, then? It also appears to be rocking the gearbox from a Type II VW, somewhat oddly... No clue in the front, just a very neat fuel/cool/spark setup and the more observant might notice the alterations to the strut turrets Better take a look round the back end for the answer, then. Hmmmm... fuel pressure reg.... ....neat oil cooling setup... ...supercharger... ....twin rotor 12A Mazda Wankel engine... ....nope, can't work out what's different there, th- Hold, on, supercharged rotary engine!? Did I forget to mention the twin Del'Orto carbs? Oh, yeah, she's a bit of a goer! Bit of a looker, too That's our quick whisltestop tour done, then, thanks for looking in. Hope you enjoyed the pics and like the car. I know some are probably sucking teeth over the adulteration of a classic li'l Imp but hopefully there are plenty of you who appreciate the workmanship, spirit and sheer joie de vivre this little car's been infused with. Cheers, Nik

Oh yes! Fabulous looking installation and, when compared to other modified style Imps, such a sleeper.

Cheers, guys! I think the supercharger was more to be different than anything, but the theory is sound that it ought to suit the very linear torque production of a rotary. Turbos and high boost also add a larger amount of heat into the equation which leads to complications and the fueling becomes more critical the more boost you add, the one thing rotaries are pretty much gauranteed to die of is detonation. The car was built by its previous owner, a dude called Niall up in Scotland so unfortunately the build thread is a thing of history now. The current owner is in the process of civilizing it (a bit) for the road and getting it all road-legal, MOTed and such. The jetting needs a fair bit of sorting, because it's a bit of a lightswitch power delivery at the moment, made worse by the ridiculously short gearing of the Veedub box. First gear is more or less redundant, it's over in about a microsecond! It's also LOUD! This Micron bike can is the only silencing; so it might need a bit of extra exhaustery before it can really be a serious road-going proposition. It's not really much of a street-sleeper as it stands, it sounds like the Apocalypse! Oh, and the windows are fixed perspex, so some form of opening/air circulation might be necessary some time soon as well ;D

Yeah, that's my FD lurking in the background. I used to think that was loud until I met the Imp I've got a couple of vids of it on my phone but they seem to be in some weird format that my computer doesn't want to know about. As soon as I can work out how to use a video editing doobrie I'll try to post them up ...not excellent with 'puters, does it show?
