Up for sale is my LDV 400 Minibus.
I bought it in June and spent July and August touring Europe with 3 friends. I endured all the mikey taking and sceptics but it didn't let us down once. We did almost 4000 miles without any problems whatsoever. My parents borrowed it for 2 weeks to go upto Scotland, and put another 1000 miles or so on it aswell
I'll do the bad point first. When my parents had it they were driving up the A1 and smoke started coming from the indicator stalk and the fuse for the offside side lights. My Dad pulled the fuse out and it stopped but now the offside rear light doesn't work. Also, the split charging system kept blowing its fuse so I've just left it without a fuse in.
It's a 2.5 non turbo diesel Peugeot engine with 188052 KILOMETERS on the clock. It has had two previous owners, the guy I bought it from and a college. The bloke I bought it from had only had it for a couple of months to take his mates to Cornwall and while it was with the college it was serviced every 6 weeks! You can see the engine bay is pretty tidy in the pictures.
Being a 3.5T minibus it has double rear wheels, all tyres are good. The bodywork is a little tatty but its not too bad for an old LDV. There's some scrapes on the drivers side and rear corners. The gutter on the rear passenger side has rusted away but looks like it could be fairly easy to repair if it bothered you that much. There are also a few suspect looking bits on the back doors around the windows, but it never actually leaked.
Its got an immobiliser which works fine and a Kenwood CD player with AUX in, which I will leave in. I also installed a split charging system, an LED light and a 1200W inverter to power things from. There is a terminal block under the unit in the back with permanent 12v too. I fitted curtains which tie back when you're driving. Unfortunately I'm borrowing the leisure battery, so I will have to give that back and it won't be included. Apart from that, its ready for camping!
Originally it was a minibus with 16 seats. I took out 10 seats and made some bed frames from Dexion. The tops are ply with foam on and material stretched over the top to keep it looking tidy. I made a table with legs that can fold up so you can drop it down into the middle to make a big bed. I also made a unit with shelves for storage and that is where I have located the terminal block with 12v tappings and the inverter. One of the compartments is made to fit a 3.9kg gas bottle for a cooker. I'm no carpenter, so its not the best joinery in the world, but it works and it'll get you started.
I will include the seats if you want to convert it back to a minibus. They are very clean, I was surprised when I was taking them out especially considering it belonged to a college.
It has MOT till 10th November 2012 and Tax till the end of the month (September) so you can drive it away. I also have the V5 in my name and the current MOT cert. The only advisories last MOT were steering has slight play (The guy I bought it from told me he had sorted this but its an LDV and I don't think the steering was ever precise) and the battery was insecure. I bought a brand new battery the day before we left, so thats nice and strong. Starts first time everytime.
Considering it's size, its very easy to drive and manoeuvre. We were parking it in tiny cobbled streets in Europe with ease.
I'm away with work quite a lot, but if you phone the house my parents will be more than happy to answer any questions about it and arrange viewings. It's located near Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Contact number is 01525 220177.
I'm after £800. I'm not interested in swaps, I've not got any more room and need to thin the fleet down. No dibs, whoever comes with the money first gets it.
Heres a few photos.
Cheers
