So as some of you will know I have just payed for a bentley 6.75L v8 turbo motor for may next project, a hotrod of sorts. It should be delivered thursday or friday
It is a carb motor from 85 so does anybody have any tuning info or good web sites for extracting more go from this engine, my google foo is weak on this one I am sorry to say.
If nothing is forth coming then I will just have to play about with it

It's the L410D engine apparently... But my google fu is weak too.
What can possibly go wrong by upping the boost?

I'm not sure too many people have played with the carb turbo. Rolls/Bentley after spending a huge amount of £££ on developing the Carb turbo they only used it for a couple of years then moved on the fuel injection Turbo R. The turbo R uses a much bigger turbo though looks like one off a lorry ;D Plenty of people have turned the boost up on the turbo Rs

i don't think the carb version is intercooled so a decent cooler and wideband lambda reader you should be able to run a couple more psi on the stock fuel pressure etc

They have a Solex 4A1 four barrel in a pressurised box and blow through that

Realsteel.co.uk for V8 tuning, they're wizards. PPC did this a while back using a fuel pressure regulator with a vacuum pipe connected to manifold to allow fuel pressure to rise according to boost levels. Have a wonder on the PPC forums as they'd be full of goodness

get ot the rollers for a set up and tune once its running etc ,
but a cooler will help no end , most carb turbos can go up a few psi with standard jets ,
the r5gtt goes to 14psi ok on standard jets, so upiing up round 8psi with a cooler should be sweet before a set up and jets are needed,.

Well engine and box are here and has been moved into the garage with lots of huffing and puffing, about as heavy as a small moon.
