If you can find one: Renault 11 Turbo Honda Integra or a FSO Prima 1.4 GLI (Rover K-series) Lancia Prisma 1.5 (if you don't mind a trip to Europe and a LHD) Fiat Regata 85 Weekend Other ideas might be to build/convert a Morris Ital 1275 turbo, or Renault Extra 1.4 Turbo. Or a Ford Orion 1.3/1.4 CVH turbo?

ettorebugatti cheers Honda Integra yes please if ones about Having trouble finding performance and fuel figures for fiat weekend Lancia Prisma 1.5 avoid due to drive throughs and parking machines lol. great for posting in letter boxes though lol or a FSO Prima 1.4 GLI just doesnt appeal Not into big mods like turbo conversions. My orion returns 26mpg so with a turbo that would decrease and no Idea how it would affect performance.

now that opens a whole new door. if one was for sale I can only find one for £2750 though. As with something like this I could avoid getting the crappy mondeo tdci and use this for the caravan and keep the astra That's very strong money for one, though they have rapidly vanished from the roads in the last two years. I paid £1000 for mine but had to travel 40miles to get to it. Have a pic of it towing my 525i race car 'Project Bratwurst': Seeing that photo makes me really miss it. Smiler.

My mum had a 1.9 BX estate, went well, nice car but wouldn't call them great tow cars though, bit on the light side for towing.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Mk2 transit, bin the engine gearbox and prop, fit a 1000 cc fait uno engine, bang a 12kva genny in where the gear box would have been, and fit a warp12 ac motor on the diff, ok control systems are going to cost you, but loads of room, tax free, and will do 100mpg around town and around 65mpg on a run at past motorway speeds.....
p.s will be just as easy on an estate if you can fudge the biva removing the floor.....

There used to be a lorry / bus made by Tilling - Stevens en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilling-Stevensthat worked in similar way. They were popular during the tolley bus era in that they could use the overhead power lines when in built up areas and then kick in the petrol engine when outside towns. Locally a bus company ran one until early 50's according to my father in law. Paul H

Something to do with keeping the car level despite nose weight so I'm told ;D Also, any age BX can go on a classic policy. Mines a K 1993 on a classic policy.

I'm amazed no one's suggested a Viva Estate. Cheap to buy with standard 1256 cc lump, but loads of room to lob in something bigger, and, of course, no road tax

Its not the carrying capacity or the levelling, its the cars overall light weight, while it may be able to pull a huge trailer and not sag at the back its dodgy pulling anything heavy with them, because the cars weigh about as much as a fart.

Forget the low tax, you won't miss the extra cash to get full tax. My vote goes to BMW E36 328i Touring. Very quick, easy to make them quicker (190 up to 220-230bhp), cheap off the shelf coilovers, access to cheap low offset dishy 5 series rims and not bad on juice. Mine is returning 28-30mpg with mixed driving. They have also never been cheaper, mine has a rough body but drives mint and only cost me £600 with plenty of T&T. The only problem with them is that they aren't particularly retro.
If you are looking more retro then consider the E30 325i Touring, but you will only get 25mpg, they are more pricey and less items are off the shelf.
