The bumper fogs on my Mk2 GTI were knackered. The N/S fog was constantly steamed up all the time and the reflectors had disintegrated. I bought a pair of Mk3 fogs and used them to make a pair of good-as-new lights. They looked great and worked brilliantly until.....the N/S light fogged up again I've sealed round where the glass meets the plastic etc and......it's still fogging up. There's no cracks or anything so I'm throwing this out there if anyone has any hints or tips? It's doing my box in!!! If anyone is interested, this is how I used the mk3 fogs to fit my Mk2- www.vwgolf-mk2.com/ea3golffoglightsinstallation.html

Tape a couple of sheets of white paper over the lens, take the rubber bung of the bulb holder and switch on the offending lamp for 10 mins. It's not a permanent fix but will clear out the moisture for now.

I always put headlights, without bulbs, in airing cupbard overnight to dry them out.

I have had this a few times on some of my cars and it bugs the hell out of me!
I think what it is (I could be totally wrong) is where the light unit itself is not sealed properly.
The light I have had which have fogged up I dry out and then run some sillicone around where the glass meets the backing and again in the back where the bulb unit plugs in.
I am yet to have a light re-fog on me!

This was all the rage on the Focus owner's forum when I had one, people were cutting them open to paint the inside of the headlights body coloured like the ST and finding that their DIY seal job was better than the factory job. I did it with one headlight that always steamed up to fix the steaming but didn't bother painting, it never steamed up again. If I can do it, how hard can it be?

Thats exactly how I found out it worked! It happened on my civic lights all the time, I baked them open painted them and used builder silicone to seal them back together and they never fogged up again!

N/S as in the one above the zorst? costant heating and cooling is the main culprit, seals dry out and shrink and hot and cold causes condensation.
