This jetta was recently saved from the jaws of the crusher by forum member LankyTim, who passed it onto me as I had previously admired it. Its not really my cup of tea though its a nice old thing, so hopefully I can find a new home for it:
Car: 1988 VW Jetta 1.6 TX
Tax: none
MOT: FULL 12 months (just passed yesterday!!)
Mileage: 85,000
Contact details: PM or O78OO 9O2396
Its been with the last owner since 1995, and though I can't prove the mileage old LT knows the owners - they are an older couple and not serious motorway-bashers so I am fairly sure its correct.
Good points: Runs and drives nicely, very honest, totally unmessed with old car. Passed the MOT after a new wheel cylinder, wiper blades and I put a set of new discs and pads in as the old ones were a bit 'sharp'!
Bad points: Slightly droney rear wheel bearing on one side, no stereo, old red VW so mega fade-prone, interior could benefit from a good scrub up.
If I had to criticise this car, the one thing thats a shame on it is that most of the passenger side has been repainted at some point and the paint has not faded the same way as the other paint, which is all original. I have done my best to beautify it with primitive caveman tools, but as you can see its still visible. However, hopefully if i'm telling you that a bit of ill-matched paint is the worst problem on this 24-yr old VW, you'll know its a decent old tank.
Thats it really, at £395 i'll be making a drink or two out of this but not enough to retire to the costa del curse word, mainly its about keeping an interesting old motor on the road for a bit longer. You never see these small-bumper jetta about any more, the odd ones you do see on ebay are usually both laughably overpriced and victims of half-ar5ed stickerbomb/chopped spring 'rat look' efforts.
Wont swap for a broken playstation and a tin of pineapple chunks and can't deliver, unless you live very close by. Finally, I might be persuaded to barter a little bit on the price if you are stood in front of me. Cheers!
