I'd love one but prices always seems too high for what they actually are.

This was my old one: Pao's look cool, however, they are incredibly painfully slow... and they also ride terribly, and squeak and rattle lots! Also, those mega low ones must have either had serious surgery to get down, or bang and clank like no tomorrow, as even 30mm lower mine would muller the bottom arms into the chassis Go for one with a cg13de conversion and some suspension rethinking, and it'd be a cool little bus mind

Here's mine. Pao's look cool, however, they are incredibly painfully slow... and they also ride terribly, and squeak and rattle lots! They're not all like yours then. I agree the autos are painfully slow. Mine was a manual - it was just normal slow. It rode nicely and had no squeaks or rattles at all but it wasn't that low. Shortly after this photo I chopped one coil out of the rear springs just to level it out.

Always had a thing for these.
That relocated bumper look works surprisingly well on the beige/black one above.

Is there any evidence of inspiration coming from the R4?

Is there any evidence of inspiration coming from the R4? You know that isnt a R4 right? It's a Suzuki Lapin with a DAMD R4 conversion Sorry for being pedantic

As well as a PAO trying to look like a Lapin trying to look like a R4, in a further twist.......... you can also get a Suzuki Alto trying to look like a PAO www.modest.jp/pike.htm

Been trying to put together the history of my Nissan Pao, which is this one. I like to call her UnderCoverCar, and she is doing very well.

I've had a couple pass through my hands, funky things but yeah the auto's are reeeeaaaaallllyyy sloooooow. From memory the 1.5 Nissan Almera (?) engine is a fairly easy swap

They are slow bless them, but to be honest they are a joy to be in. If you are going to fast a little alarm starts sounding. There is a reverse alarm as well, which I think is very cute. An old pal of mine has Nissan Almera, and a Pao, I think he wanted to change the engine in the Pao, not sure he knew this fact though. I fell in love with her as 1989 was my best year (not that I can remember much about it, I just know it was!!) and I love funky things.
