This isn't for sale as such, it's more of a tentative toe in the water to see what's about. Once it starts to snow this will be worth at least twelvty times as much, so you'd have to be a madman not to be after it now.
What do I want? Probably something a bit more sprightly and less diesely, the more interesting and retro the better, although unemployment means you may catch me with my sensible head on if you've something more bland kicking about. Must have T&T, and I don't have a penny to put into any deal.
MoT: stacks. July 31st 2013 I think. No advisories if memory serves me correctly.
Tax: stacks. Till the end oh March 2013.
Where? North Yorkshire
Right, off the top of my head...
1989, about 105k miles (oddo in kms, speedo in mph so no confusion)
Recent service, glowplugs, oil, fuel and air filters.
Runs really nicely and does circa 30mpg, will apparently run on veg oil although I've not tried as yet...
Electric windows, central locking, decent stereo and a little chime that plays when you go above 67mph! Apparently due to Japanese speed limits, but I haven't the heart to disconnect it as I love the fact it still works and optimum cruising speed is around 65mph anyway (will happily trundle along plenty faster, but mpg starts to drop off).
Oh, it's a manual five-speed.
Tow bar, and I was told the electrics all work. Not having anything to tow, I haven't tested this.
Drives really, really well for an old bus, with light power steering etc. Truck-style sprung seats which make barreling down country lanes the most comfy thing in the world ever! Feels like an absolute tank and there's a silly amount or room inside - great for mountain bikers or dogging perverts.
It's a little smokey from cold startup as you'd expect from an old diesel, but it's actually a fair bit less chuggy and noisy than expected. Fires up first time and instantly from warm.
Body is also surprisingly good. I've not found any areas of rot, just a few bubbles here and there, the worst of which is the passenger side wing. It's not mint by the standards of a car, but for an old off-roader I'd say it's really pretty good - certainly very presentable.
Tyres are all excellent, and shouldn't need any money spending on it for the foreseeable.
It's dirty in these pics, as a 4x4 should be (great excuse!). Shown the only bubbly bit on the passenger's wing. Interior is in good nick and seats are dead comfy - no carpets as they were minging and just get worse from walking the dog on the moors, but there are mats down so not really noticeable to be honest.
