Seeing a picture of a TE37 in another post/forum earlier today, brought back a memory of something from my youth I've long time forgotten...
In the mid 70's I was 9 years old and every day, walking home from school, I walked past the local dentist's office. Parked in front of it was a Corolla TE37. Not a normal one though, it was a SR5, and not a normal SR5 either, but a Toyota Corolla SR5 BLACK HAWK.
It was the most awesomest car, and every day I walked past it, I would slow down to take in the lines, the glossy black paint and the gold JPS-esque pin striping. It had all the ingredients of a real sports car and to a nine year old it just looked mean and fast from all angles.
For a long time that was the coolest car in my world, and even now, 37 years later, I can remember exactly where it stood an the awe of checking it out.
All my efforts to find a picture online today, sadly came to nothing as apparently the Black Hawk and it's sister car, the Silver Wolf, was a model specific to South Africa.
Anywhoo...I found these pictures though that you might enjoy... ;D
