Pressurising an entire carb?

Ok, so it's in the daydream stage at the moment, but that frequently results in an actual attempt mode shortly after. I'm thinking about throwing a turbo on my small block Chevy. It's going to be basic, and very very budget.

Now, in a bid to avoid an expensive turbo proof carb, I am assuming a stock Rochester won't take boost. However, in theory if I pressurised the whole assembly in essentially a chamber post turbo, it should still work?

Is this theoretically possible? Anyone got experience here?

Yes it will work and has been done to good affect,

Build a box around the turbo and pressurize that then you need a boost sensitive fuel pressure regulator and a pump that can supply the fuel slightly higher pressure than the boost you will be using.

Build the box so you can easily access the adjustment areas of the carb or you will be cheesed off buy the time it comes to setting it up on boost.

It is a very common method in the states,

You could build something similar, sealing the linkage would be tricky. easier to enclose the linkages too and just seal in the cables.

as the carb sees boost pressure outside as well as inside, it doesnt pour out of everywhere.

Yea, I think a rod link such as above will e the simplest way of dealing with the throttle linkage.

Will check what the mech pump will handle and decide on an fpr once the box is built.

Well it's a 305, so basically useless in standard guise. I'd be as well throwing a turbo on it and having some fun.
