this is the ebay add I bought from about a month ago.
here we have a 99% rust free 1979 mini clubman , tiny tiny bit of bubbling on boot lid.
powered by a very nice modified metro 1275 engine (I have been told by a previous owner that it has a fast road/race cam double valve springs balanced crank and balanced flywheel 2" sports exhaust pancake air filter and a new needle fitted then tuned on rolling road I can only confirm lightened flywheel as I changed clutch plate and diaphragm so I saw flywheel and air filter the exhaust oh yes and metro electronic ignition).
but I can say it goes very well and cruises nicely on motorway (i do 30 miles a day 6 days a week on motorway + another 16 miles on country lanes to and from work).
I have owned this clubman since august 2012 when I got the car I fitted front discs + servo + drive shafts + pedal box & 12" ultra lites all new rear brakes including pipes clutch slave cylinder and replaced seal in clutch master cylinder fitted ultimate engine steady with poly bushes then put it in for mot it failed on welding head lamp not working wipers worn ( sills had been replaced and welded at 30mm gaps so I had to get more welding done now welded at 15mm gaps which exceeds mot standard. headlamp was loose wire and I put new wiper blades on) the car has had other welding carried out on it but the mot station said this was to a high standard it is obvious that any rust was removed then new panels welded seam welded in. I drive every day to work 46 mile round trip and used socially only had to come home on recovery truck once clutch had gone new metro turbo clutch and diaphragm fitted that night (and oil seal behind flywheel might as well while your there). then came second mot (during my ownership) failed on exsessive play in steering and wiper switch inoperative "THE MOT STATION SNAPPED IT OFF" (so recon steering rack fitted, tracking reset and wiper switch repaired)I'm still driving to work every day.
paint work shines, engine bay is white (don't know what previous owner had in mind) roof is sprayed black but could do with tidying up abit.
interior is from a 25th anniversary mini its clean thats all I can say about the interior the head lining was retrimmed in white vinyl looks nice carpets were new when I got the car no radio.
All in all this clubman is very solid and very reliable fast with good fuel economy (46 miles a day 6 days a week thats 250 miles plus a week on £40 thats 40mpg mostly at 70mph on motorway and country lanes thats nice when you get to have fun too I definately shock a few people at the lights!!!!!!
