Model: Ford Sierra 2.0i Ghia automatic
Year: 1990
Mileage: 85,000
Tax: No
MOT: January 2014
Location: Norfolk
Price: 475
Additional Information:
This is an H-reg Sierra Ghia estate. It must have been pretty much top of the line of Sierra estates when it was new - it has all the usual Ghia extras, with the addition of air conditioning and ABS.
It has the 2-litre fuel injected 8 valve twin cam engine (not a Pinto) and 4-speed auto gearbox. It drives well and picks up its skirts quite adequately when needed. The engine doesn't seem to use any oil and the temperature stays where it should.
The bodywork isn't bad for its age, and actually polishes up quite well, although it's not immaculate. The underside looks pretty solid from what I can see; the sills have had welding done in the past. It also has a towbar fitted.
Most of the gadgets work fine. The aircon needs a regas and the sunroof tilts up OK but doesn't seem interested in sliding (I haven't forced it as I didn't want to tempt fate), and only the centre section of the heated front screen works. The stereo switches on but doesn't seem interested in producing anything other than a faint hiss - it can't lock down any stations either so I have a feeling the aerial might be faulty. Other than that everything works, even the headlight wipers.
The interior is again in pretty good condition for a 22-year-old car, although the side trim in the boot is a bit battered. Seats are all OK, and the fronts have the rubber bulb for inflating the lumbar support which I quite like.
There's a couple of other minor faults which I should mention: the starter motor occasionally sticks and needs a few turns of the key to get it to engage, and the engine sometimes seems to hold back slightly under part throttle acceleration - this has never bothered me enough to investigate as when it happens I just put my foot down a bit harder. Full throttle is always fine so the power is there if needed for overtaking or whatever.
It's MoT'd until the end of January next year; the tax is now out. Here's a few pics:
