Speedway by SS Collins is a cracker, all about abandoned racing circuits and a bit of a bargain on Amazon too.

Stand on it by "Stroker Ace"! A funny and allegedly true story of a 60's NASCAR driver, written by the driver in question.

Oh yes... and as cliched as it may sound, 'The Man in the White Suit' by Ben Collins is thoroughly entertaining.

Murray Walker - "Unless I'm Very Much Mistaken".
Excellent read. Unfortunately I left my hard copy back in the UK and it's not available on Kindle*.
*Whilst double checking the above fact, I've just bought his "Formula One Heros" written with Simon Taylor. Another nine quid gone!!

Check the Bizzles sig yo. Ha! My book's mostly not about cars. You can tell I've read it thoroughly then! ;D I don't even know what it looks like! I can recommend Can-Am Cars in Detail by Peter Lyons and Peter Harholdt, although I've not really read much of the words in that either, it does have big pictures of trumpets and pipework ;D

Into the Red by Nick Mason, complete with CD of engine noises... I've got the earlier edition with only 21 cars. Cobra by Trevor Legate (the best Cobra book, allegedly). This is the edition I've got, probably been updated.

Oh bloomin eck, some good ideas to be going on with here guys.. Got that Speedway book by S Collins on my shortlist (amazon wishlist) allready.. Didnt consider the likes of Murray walker at first but liking that too Think i better see what Sir Stirling Moss has to offer. Also gotta get "Drive on" .... Jalopniks writeup on the book was enough to convince me of that

I've read this book twice now and its great for anyone that loves an underdog. What surprises so much is how much of a success the Yugo was in the US (for a short time). Its as much about the story behind Malcolm Bricklin as the Yugo in America. Fascinating.
