Good-day chaps, and a happy christmas out there. I have had the good or mis-fortune, depending on your perspective, to acquire an '81 244 Saloon and a '91 740 'loon. The 244 is a lovely motor but has been stood since 1994, so all the brakes are stuck solid and the clutch fluid has gone AWOL... the 740 is on the road but a horrible car. As I haven't picked them up yet to see for myself, any chance that any of the brakes and/or any other running gear will drop straight onto the 244, or indeed with minor modification? Any input appreciated! Have some 240 loving?

Drivetrain. I'm not 100% on this but AFAIK it is *pretty much* a direct swap. Infact, having layed under a couple of both cars, they look exactly the same and I think the platform is identical. Brakes I'm less sure of, but I think if they're not a direct fit, they will be really close. If they don't you could just make them fit I think at the very least a master cylinder conversion will be needed because I think theres twice the amount cylinders on the callipers

I'd love an early 740 saloon! Prefer them to the 240s if I'm honest.... a lot rarer now as well. Is it a turbo?

Ta, don't get me wrong, it's just this particular 740 of mine that I find repulsive! I'd love an early 740 saloon! Prefer them to the 240s if I'm honest.... a lot rarer now as well. Is it a turbo? Sadly this is a facelift run-out model so nothing special. I'm just trying to get the 244 on the road as quickly and cheaply as possible, and probably make my first proper 'project' thread ;D

760 was based on the 200 series mechanical parts I believe.

There's some easy-peezy suspension upgrades to 240s - double ARBs front and rear are less than a day's work including all the the (minor) fabrication needed. All 240 come 'fitted for but not with' suspension braces on the front - threaded holes on the bulkhead to take bulkhead-to-turret top braces.
Turbobricks.com is a great place to look for mods and upgrades.

The 740 axle assembly width is 1460mm versus the 240 axle at 1350mm. This is also a good site- www.davebarton.com
