Hello all,
Can anyone recommend anyone near Derby to adjust the camber on my Merc 300SE?
The tire on the drivers side front is wearing out on the outer shoulder. It's had a fair bit of suspension work done in the last year (new top control arms and track rod ends)
Standard alignment test has been done, and that is bob on. Have got a new pair of lower ball joints to go on, as well as new shocks all round.

Yes, it needs full tracking, the toe in/out is spot on, so it needs the full works to correct the camber (I can't see what else it would be?)

Some garages aren't too good and getting the settings right. Was the place you used a good place or did you go to Kwik-Fit. I tend to find spotty youth who can't be bothered often get it wrong. I've found a place I trust who always do good work but they aren't in your area.

#152 is an eccentric cam where the arm mounts to the subframe and is the primary camber adjuster. #92 is an adjustable rod and is primary castor. Pretty easy so long as they're not too badly seized.....

So 152 is on the top arm? Indeed looks very easy to do, and can see when the problem occurred. Had the top control arms replaced not long back!

No it's the bottom; arm #77. That arm on the upper left is an expanded view of #77.

if only all car manufacturers made lovely adjustment setups like that!
If it was a ford you'd have to bend it!

Excellent. Might have a quick look later to see how rusty it all is down there...

Brittannia tyres near the city centre have a full computerised 4-wheel alignment and they give a printout of everything. They did my W126 and although it wasn't far out, it drove a whole lot better after they'd done!
I'd suggest getting all the factory settings printed out before you go though, just to make sure they have the right settings.

Oh, and for lower balljoints, the only place I found nearby with the correct tool was Mercedes-Benz of Nottingham - even the main dealer in Derby couldn't do it... I took the arms off, took them to Merc Notts (complete with Euro Car Parts balljoints!) and they did them both for about £50 labour, far easier than curse word about!!

It's a bit of a faff but you can change the balljoints without the correct tool.
