Mud flap question (Is this dangerous?)

Not much of a lip in the arches to fit these flaps. Didn't want to drill.

This is as far as I dare tighten the bolts, the bumper is only thin plastic. Bit of an ugly job, but:

My question is, do you think the bolts are sticking out too much and may touch the tyres on bumpy roads?

That'll be fine, wheel would never move back that much even on the bumpiest of roads

Cant you spin the clips the other way round so the bolt is inside the bumper, might be a bit fiddly to tighten, but would look better.

Failing that, just cut the bolt down?

Hi, if you are concerned can you turn the clamp round the other way so the bolt points backwards? Shorten the bolt if necessary.

They look quite low so be careful when reversing into a kerbside parking space.

If the flap gets pushed onto the wheel when you are still moving backwards your wheel will pull it off.

I know from experience with my Beetle.

Other than that, they look fine as far as not hitting the tires.

How 'bout giving the bolts and clamps a quick spray of flat black paint? Then they'll disappear. Just make sure It's a light coat, so as not to foul the threads.

- I've tried the other way round, but the clamp won't go far enough for the bolt to touch the arch, only the edge of the clamp
And the plastic seems a bit fragile to be squeezed between a bolt and rubber, rather than rubber and the bigger surface of the clamp

- I will shorten the bolts, good idea

- may paint them
